PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, October 5, 2022 9:00 A.M. Present: Chairperson Tim McKinley, Mayor Paul Meier, Genie Wambaugh, Carol Sprinkle, Ed Wise Absent: Mark Lehman Staff Present: City Administrator Alex Mattingly, City Engineer Mike Yeager, and Public Works Director John Scheben Chairperson Tim McKinley called the meeting to order at 9:01 a.m. and led the Committee in the Pledge of Allegiance. The first item considered was approval of the September 7, 2022 meeting minutes. Genie Wambaugh motioned to approve and Ed Wise seconded, all voting in favor. Continuing Business A. Turkeyfoot Road Improvement Project – No update. B. Upcoming Roadwork - Shinkle Rd. Repaving – A pre-construction meeting for this project was conducted on September 28 with the contractor, Paul Michels & Sons. Due to the timing of the work, and because blacktop plants will close in the November timeframe, it is anticipated that the completion of this project could occur in early 2023. C. Horsebranch Rd. Sidewalks – The City submitted this project to KYTC in an attempt to acquire CMAQ funds for the design and construction. D. Dixie Hwy. Sidewalk Improvements (Whitehouse Drive to North City Boundary with Lakeside Park) – The City is waiting on formal notification that the Transportation Alternatives (TA) grant was awarded to Crestview Hills for this project. It is likely it will be several years before work can start. E. Thomas More Parkway Crosswalk – Bids for this project were opened on October 3, and the City received two bids. The low bid was Adleta Construction with a bid of $78,922. The engineer’s estimate for this work was approximately $64,000. Ed Wise made a motion to recommend that City Council accept the bid from Adleta Construction and award a contract, Genie Wambaugh seconded, all voting in favor. F. Vernon Drive Reconstruction – City Engineer Mike Yeager is currently drafting plans for this project. Field survey work has been completed. The City is targeting to have this project out for bid in January or February 2023. 1 G. Duke Energy Streetlight LED Conversion – This project is ongoing. Mayor Meier, Alex Mattingly, and John Scheben met with Duke Energy officials on September 13 to get an update and stats. Mayor Meier updated the committee on the details of the style of replacement lights and poles. It is anticipated that project work is several months off. Staff Report John Scheben reported that the street painting work is imminent. The next meeting of the Committee is scheduled for Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. Adjournment Motion to adjourn by Ms. Wambaugh, seconded by Mr. Wise, all voting in favor to adjourn.
