CITY OF DARLINGTON COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS
AUGUST 20, 2024
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Mike McDermott at 7:00 PM. The Pledge of Allegiance
was then recited. Present at roll call were: Steve Pickett, Kerry Black, Joe Boll, Cindy Corley, and John
Sonsalla. Absent: Dave Roelli. Also present were: Eric Weber, Mackena Weber and son, Jeff McCarthy, and
Amy Johnson
Motion by Pickett, second by Sonsalla, that the meeting notice and agenda were properly posted.
Motion carried. Motion by Corley, second by Pickett, to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Motion
carried.
Under new business, discussion was also held concerning a Temporary Class “B” Retailer’s License
application from the Darlington Fire Department for 4:00 PM, November 2, 2024, through 12:00 AM,
November 3, 2024, in the Firehouse located at 230 W. Cornelia Street. A copy of the license application and a
letter from the Chief of Police were included in the agenda packet. After review and consideration, motion by
Pickett, second by Corley to approve the Temporary Class “B” Retailer’s License application from Wiegel
Strong Foundation as presented. Motion carried.
Discussion was then held concerning a lease request for space on the second floor of the Municipal
Building. Eric Weber and his wife, Mackena, attended the meeting to answer questions and discuss the
proposed lease agreement. The Webers are requesting to paint the two rooms and place a sign outside of each
door. The rooms would be painted by Eric and Mackena and painted back to the original color if/when they
would end their lease with the City of Darlington. After discussion and consideration, motion by Pickett,
second by Boll to approve the requests and the lease agreement. Motion carried. Glenn Kendall arrived to the
meeting at 7:18 PM.
Motion by Black, second by Boll to go into closed session in accordance with Wis. Stat. 19.85 (1)(e) to consider
a Memorandum of Understanding with the Darlington Professional Police Association. Roll Call Vote: All
Ayes. Motion carried.
Motion by Pickett, second by Boll to reconvene to regular session in accordance with Section 19.85 (2) Wis.
Stats., to adjourn the meeting
There being no further business for this meeting, motion by Corley, second by Black, to adjourn the
meeting at 7:42 PM. Motion carried.

1. Call to order by presiding officer.
2. Pledge of Allegiance.
3. Roll call.
4. Motion that the meeting notice and agenda were properly posted.
5. Approve the minutes of the previous meeting, rectifying mistakes if any exist. (Copy
enclosed)
6. Reports, comments, suggestions, and recommendations of citizens present. (3-minute
limit)
7. Unfinished or deferred business from previous Council meetings.
8. New business. Including but not limited to the introduction of Ordinances and
Resolutions.
(a) Discussion and action concerning an application for Temporary Class “B” Retailer’s
License from the Darlington Fire Department for 4:00 PM, November 2, 2024 thru
12:00 AM, November 3, 2024 in the Firehouse located at 230 W. Cornelia Street.
(b) Discussion and action if necessary, concerning a lease request for space on the second
floor of the Municipal Building.
The Council will go into closed session in accordance with Section 19.85 (1) (e) Wis.
Stats., to consider a Memorandum of Understanding with the Darlington Professional
Police Association.
The Council will reconvene to regular session in accordance with Section 19.85 (2) Wis.
Stats., to take action if necessary, concerning a Memorandum of Understanding with the
Darlington Professional Police Association; and adjourn the meeting.
