CITY OF DARLINGTON COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS SPECIAL MEETING MARCH 10, 2025 The meeting was called to order by Mayor Mike McDermott at 7:00 PM. Present at roll call were: Joe Boll, Dave Roelli, John Sonsalla, Steve Pickett, and Kerry Black. Absent: Cindy Corley. Also present were: Attorney Aaron Stauffacher, Marie Wamsley from Lafayette County Memorial Hospital, Jeff McCarthy, and Amy Johnson. Motion by Pickett, seconded by Sonsalla, the meeting notice and agenda were properly posted. Motion carried. Discussion was held concerning an Annexation Petition from Lafayette County for land they own along County Highway K. Copies of the Petition for Direct Annexation, Annexation Description, and site map were included in the agenda packet. After discussion and consideration, motion by Pickett, seconded by Roelli, to approve the Annexation Petition from Lafayette County for the land they own along County Highway K, as presented. By roll call vote: Joe Boll-Yes; Dave Roelli-Yes; John Sonsalla-Yes; Steve Pickett-Yes; Kerry Black-Yes. Motion carried. Cindy Corley arrived after the roll call vote at 7:05 pm. Discussion was then held concerning Ordinance 01-2025, An Ordinance Annexing Territory to the City of Darlington, Wisconsin. A copy of the proposed ordinance was included in the agenda packet. This ordinance pertains to the Petition for Direct Annexation of Territory to the City of Darlington from Lafayette County accepted during this meeting. After discussion and consideration, motion by Pickett, seconded by Roelli, to adopt Ordinance 01-2025, An Ordinance Annexing Territory to the City of Darlington, Wisconsin, as presented. By roll call vote: Dave Roelli-Yes; John Sonsalla-Yes; Steve Pickett-Yes; Kerry Black-Yes; Cindy Corley-Yes; Joe Boll-Yes. Motion carried. Discussion was also held concerning the proposed zoning designation for the land being annexed. Attorney Stauffacher provided a memo stating that the land included in the certified survey map be placed in the BP Business Park. An opinion letter from Mike Reuter, the City’s Building and Zoning Official, was included in the packet. Mr. Reuter stated his recommendation to zone the land is BP Business Park. After discussion and consideration, motion by Roelli, seconded by Pickett, to approve the BP Business Park zoning designation for the property being annexed. Motion carried. Discussion was then held concerning Resolution 2025-02, A Resolution to Name a City Street. The recommendation was made by the Plan Commission to name the street “Bev Anderson Street” in honor of Bev Anderson, former Lafayette County Board member, Lafayette County Hospital Board member, City Council Member, and Mayor of the City of Darlington. The name was changed from “Street” to “Drive” to correspond with the other street names in the Business Park. After discussion and consideration, motion Boll, seconded by Roelli, to approve Resolution 2025-02, A Resolution to Name a City Street “Bev Anderson Drive.” Motion carried.
