Johnson Public Library Board of Directors Meeting, July 2025 Meeting Held: July 28, 2025 1. Call to order: By President Alex Santacruz at 6:33PM 2. Roll Call: Alex Santacruz, Patty Taylor, Matt Walter, Cindy Corley, Sonja Wiegel, Carly Winslow, Janet Trout and Angie Noel (Southwest Wisconsin Library System Director. 3. Motion Meeting notice and agenda were properly posted a. 1st Winslow, 2nd Corley. Motion Carried. 4. Approval of Minutes from previous meeting a. 1st Wiegel , 2nd Taylor. Motion Carried. 5. Comments and suggestions from citizens or other parties a. None Present 6. Unfinished Business a. Discussion of Library Bylaws i. Angie Noel reviewed our bylaws and made suggestions on Articles III, IV, VII, and IX. ii. Discussed the need for a possible treasurer position, as we currently do not have one iii. Discussed the month in which officers would need to be elected vs appointments to the board iv. Janet will make the changes that were suggested and have them for the next meeting for approval by the board v. We thank Angie for coming and lending her expertise b. Election of Officers i. Moved to extend current offices (President: Santacruz, Vice President: Wiegel, Secretary: Winslow) until new appointee is present and official appointment of Matt Walter is confirmed 1. 1st Winslow, 2nd Taylor. Motion Carried. c. Discussion and action of hiring New Children’s Librarian i. Lori Crompton ii. 15-20 hours per week, starting $15/hour  1. 1st Corley 2nd Winslow. Motion Carried. d. Past Library Events: i. Janet obtained her Public Librarian Certification 1. The start to obtaining her degree ii. Tot Time continues to be well attended with roughly 25-30 kids/week iii. Tiny art gallery on display-27 pieces in total iv. Craft Buffet finished with a pizza party v. Color Dash was well attended with roughly 50 runners vi. Adam Wiegel came for tech day and answered many questions for those who had them. vii. UW extension holding a 6 week program for “End of Life Planning”. Will finish up next week, but very well attended with about 25 individuals attending viii. Stuffed Animal Sleep Over went well ix. We are officially up on Tik Tok-reviews are very positive. 7. New Business a. Discussion of appointed board member by Mayor McDermott i. John Knellwolf recommended ii. Is still considering, but if agrees, will start in September b. Upcoming Library Events i. Seed Library Grant Programs 1. Thursday, July 31st 5:30PMt: Healing Savs talk 2. Friday, August 1st 10:30AM: Monarch Butterlies in Gardens 3. Thursday, August 7th 5:30PM: Importance of Bees with Bee House Craft 4. Thursday, October 9th 5PM: Seed Saving and Collection 5. Thursday, November 6th 5PM: Winter Herb Gardens 6. TBD: Bulb and Plant Swap, Recipes and Pot Luck ii. Trustee Training for Library Board Members 1. In Person on Saturday, August 9th from 9-12:30PM in Fennimore 2. Online the following week iii. Children’s Book Counsel starting this month 1. 601 books arriving a. Split between the Johnson Public Library and DEMS i. K-1 (Kori Hemming) and 2-4 (Ashley McCarville) b. “Feedback forms” filled out after reading and turned in c. 80% of the books will be kept afterwards between the Johnson Public Library and DEMS  c. Approve of payments of vouchers #4720-#4737 i. 1st Corley, 2nd Santacruz. Motion Carried. 8. Set Next Meeting and Adjourn a. Next Meeting: Monday, August 25th 6:30PM b.
