Board of Directors Meeting, August 2025
Meeting Held: August 25, 2025
1. Call to order: By President Alex Santacruz at 6:35PM
2. Roll Call: Janet Trout, Patti Taylor, Sonja Wiegel, Matt Walter, Alex Santacrus, Cindy
Corley, Carly Winslow
3. Motion meeting notice and agenda were properly posted:
a. 1st Winslow, 2nd Wiegel. Motion Carried.
4. Approval of minutes from previous meeting:
a. 1st Walter, 2nd Wiegel. Motion Carried.
5. Comments and suggestions from citizens or other parties:
a. None
6. Unfinished Business
a. Discussion and Action on Bylaws
i. Approval of Bylaws with changes that were discussed made
1. 1st Winslow, 2nd Taylor. Motion Carried and Bylaws Approved
b. Approval of Trustee
i. Matt Walter and John Knellwolf were approved to start first year terms
on the board by the city council.
1. John will be present at the September Meeting.
c. Children’s Librarian
i. Lori Crompton has started
1. Will be contracted for roughly 19 hours a week starting
September 1st
d. Trustee Training
i. Patti, Cindy, and John attended in person
ii. Videos available for those who are interested
e. Report on Past Library Events
i. Lafayette County Library Directors Meeting took place
ii. Bee Event well attended
iii. Water Color event still open and well attended
iv. Tot Time ended for the summer with trip to the pool
v. Kindergarten library card sign up occurred Aug 25th
1. 6 kids and 2 adults got cards
7. New Business
a. 2026 Budget
i. Over Budget at this point in time
ii. Will look at CDs before September meeting
iii. Will review accounts and discuss where retirement benefits will be
taken from.
b. Lafayette County Library Meeting Update
i. Newsletters
1. Many libraries have letters to hand out with upcoming events
a. Discussed starting one for us
i. Email
1. Personal
2. School
ii. Hard copies available at library
iii. Paper
1. Adds are becoming very expensive
iv. Social Media
c. September Election
i. Treasury position will be added
ii. Current Positions:
1. President: Alex Santacruz
2. Vice President: Sonja Wiegel
3. Secretary: Carly Winslow
d. Approve payment vouchers #4738-#4757
i. 1st Corley, 2nd Wiegel. Motion Carried.
8. Next Meeting and Adjourn

i. Monday, September 22nd 6:30PM (Election and Budget Discussion)

4. Approve the minutes of the previous meeting, rectifying mistakes if any exist. (Copy
enclosed)
5. Reports, comments, suggestions, and recommendations of citizens present.
6. Unfinished or deferred business from previous committee meetings.
(a) Discussion and action concerning updates to the Library Bylaws.
(b) Discussion concerning Council approval of recommended Library Trustees.
(c) Update on the new Children’s Librarian.
(d) Update on Children's Book Council Books.
(e) Discussion concerning Trustee training.
(f) Report on past library events.
7. New business or matters to be taken up by the board.
(a) Discussion concerning the 2026 Budget.
(b) Discussion concerning updates from the County.
(c) Discussion regarding the upcoming September election of officers.
(d) Approve payment of the following July 2025 vouchers: Librarian account vouchers
#4738 through #4757 in the amount of $5,355.64.
8. Adjourn the meeting.
