Johnson Public Library Board of Directors Meeting, December 2025 Meeting held: December 22, 2025 1. Call to Order: by board secretary Winslow at 6:36 2. Roll Call: Janet Trout, John Knellwolf, Patti Taylor, Carly Winslow, Alex Santacruz. Late: Sonja Wiegel. Absent: Matt Walter 3. Motion that meeting and agenda were properly posted a. 1st Knellwolf, 2nd Taylor. Motion Carried. 4. Approval of minutes from previous meeting a. 1st Knellwolf, 2nd Santacruz. Motion Carried. 5. Reports Comments and Suggestions from those present a. None Present. 6. Unfinished business a. Update on Board of Trustees Terms i. Clarification that John Knellwolf is appointed to fill the vacant position left by Shawn O’Brien. That term will finish at the end of 2027. ii. At that time, Knellwolf will be up for election into his first term. b. Update on 2026 Budget i. All set and submitted. Haven’t heard anything back yet. c. Report on past library events i. AARP seed group offering winter herb gardens ii. Kindness for Carson held their Christmas shopping event. VERY well attended and great feedback. Thank you to the Hartwig Family, friends, and Amy West for the event. iii. Bedazzled ornament night took place iv. Voting still taking place on the Children’s Book Council Collection v. Fantasy Football event finishing up vi. Story Hour continues to go well vii. Tot Time still going well. viii. Majhong group also going well. ix. The Social Media pages are going over very well and “viral” 7. New business a. Discussion and action concerning checkout policy i. Staying as is b. Report on Upcoming Library events i. Nickolas Butler proposed for this spring. Cost is a bit higher than most authors hosted. Board discussed and will officially vote next month ii. December 30th, 10AM: Starting the Year Right Storytime iii. January 16th, 2PM: 4-H at the library iv. January 22nd, 5PM: Tea blend workshop (registration required) c. Approval of payments #4798-#4809 i. 1st Knellwolf, 2nd Taylor. Motion Carried 8. Closed Session: Board proposed to go into closed session in accordance with Section 19.85(1)(c) to discuss employment, promotion, compensation, or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility. a. Into Closed Session i. 1st Winslow, 2nd Santacruz to go into closed session. Roll Call Vote: Winslow: Yes, Taylor: Yes, Santacruz: Yes, Knellwolf: Yes. Motion Unanimously Passed to go into closed session b. End Closed Session and come back to Open Session i. 1st Santacruz, 2nd Winslow to go back into open session. Roll Call Vote: Winslow: Yes, Taylor: Yes, Santacruz: Yes, Knellwolf: Yes, Wiegel: Yes. Motion Unanimously Passed and open session began again. ii. Vote to end the probationary period of Johnson Public Library Director, Janet Trout after completing 6 months of work/training. 1. 1st Knellwolf, 2nd Winslow. Motion Carried. 9.
