Board of Directors Meeting, January 2026
Meeting held: January 19, 2026
1. Call to Order: By President Sonja Wiegel at 6:31PM.
2. Roll Call: Present: Janet Trout, Matt Walter, Sonja Wiegel, John Knellwolf, Cindy
Corley, Carly Winslow, Alex Santacruz. Absent: Patti Taylor.
3. Motion that meeting and agenda were properly posted
a. 1st Winslow, 2nd Corley. Motion Carried.
4. Approval of Minutes
a. 1st Knellwolf 2nd Santacruz. Motion Carried.
5. Reports, comments, suggestions
a. None Present
6. Unfinished business
a. Update on 2026 Budget
i. Passed
b. Discussion and possible action on 2026 Author talk
i. 1st Winslow, 2nd Corley to approve the author coming in 2026. Motion
Carried
c. Update concerning the Children’s Book Council books
i. A total of 585 books received
ii. Will be donating 117 of those through the community
iii. 2/12/26 is the official last day to vote
iv. Winner will be announced in March
v. Those that have helped with distributing these books will receive a
copy of the winning book from the Johnson Public Library
d. Report on Past Library Events
i. December
1. 1,542 check out and renewals
2. 6 new patrons
3. 391 participants in Storytimes and tot time.
4. Santa Visited
5. Kindness for Carson shop went over very well
6. Christmas Watercolor and ornament bedazzling
7. Library talk with senior exercised group
8. Mobile library for the hoeschool co-op. 4-H gingerbread
hourses and nornament making
9. Caregiver talk with ADRC
ii. January (so far)
1. A1084 behck out and renewals
2. 6 new patrons
3. 98 participants in story time and tot time.
7. New Business
a. Discussion and possible action concerning applying for Summer Reading
Grant
i. Dollar General Grant
ii. Would cover almost all of the summer reading program’s budget
iii. 1st Walter, 2nd Knellwolf to approve the application of this grant.
Motion Carried.
b. Report on Upcoming Events:
i. January 22nd 5pm Herbal Tea workshop
ii. January 29th National Puzzle Day
iii. February 2nd 5:30PM Build You Legacy with Mike Nelson and Kate
Kearney
iv. February 6th-22nd: Winter Olympics
v. February 14th 10AM: Bluey Valtine’s Day Story Time and Party
vi. Febryary 17th 4pm-5PM: Celebrate the Chinese New year
vii. February 20th: 4-H at the Library
viii. All of February: TV will be on to monitor/watch as baby the baby
eagle’s hatch.
ix. Lego Club continues to meet the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month after
school.
c. Discussion concerning the yearly report
i. Will be completed next month for approval
1. 2024: 143 new card users, 17,591 check outs and renewals
2. 2025: 148 new card users, 20,439 check outs and renewals
3. 2026: (So far) 1252 materials checked out at a value of
approximately $15,5000
d. Approval of payments #4810-#4830

(b) Discussion and possible action on 2026 Author talk.
(c) Update concerning the Children’s Book Council books.
(d) Report on past library events.
7. New business or matters to be taken up by the board.
(a) Discussion and possible action concerning applying for a Summer Reading Grant.
(b) Report on upcoming events.
(c) Discussion concerning the yearly report.
(d) Approve payment of the following December 2025 vouchers: Librarian account
vouchers #4810 through #4830 in the amount of $5,668.40.
(e) Set next meeting date for the February meeting.
