CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 6:08 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL Also present: Ron Paradise, Planning and Development Services; Angelia Briggs, Community Development; Mari Leisen, Community Development; and Denise Brooke, Community Development. APPROVAL OF MINUTES & AGENDA: Motion by Member Williams, seconded by Vice Chair James, to approve the minutes for April 18, 2017. The motion carried by the following vote. Social Services Summit: The Neighborhood Center Homeless Shelter Initiative. - Presentation by Susan Clark regarding The Neighborhood Center homeless shelter including how the project is to be funded/financed by local governments, private, for-profit interests and social service, non-governmental organizations; Ms. Susan Clark, The Neighborhood Center, presented a summary of the current homeless situation in Volusia County. It included an overview of the philosophy behind the proposed models to address homelessness, (Coordinated Entry and Housing First). Ms. Clark also presented an overview of The Neighborhood Center of West Volusia, with an outline of the West Volusia homeless initiative including costs and funding. After the presentation, discussion ensued between the board members and Ms. Clark. She provided further clarification on the items discussed for the members. B. Social Services Summit: The Neighborhood Center Homeless Shelter Initiative. - Past and/or future activities by AHAC members to solicit private, for-profit interests to support the project; Members discussed ways to help solicit funds from the private sector, for profit interests and other organizations and help bring awareness to the community. C. Social Services Summit: The Neighborhood Center Homeless Shelter Initiative. - Participation, including financial, by social service, non-governmental organizations. AHAC and Social Services members discussed The Neighborhood Center Homeless Shelter Initiative and ways to get more individuals involved and participating. 8. STAFF COMMENTS: 9. BOARD/COMMITTEE MEMBERS COMMENTS: Member Gavilanes stated he would like to see the AHAC and the Social Services meet more than quarterly and would like to look into ways to get more information out to the residents and those in need. Member Putkowski would like to see all the services in one place for our residents here in Deltona and would like to see if the City of Deltona has a place that could be used. Vice Chair James agrees with Member Putkowski and thanks everyone for all the great information that was provided to them. He would also like to see all the services for the residents in one place here in Deltona. Member William stated this has been the best meeting so far and would like to set up City of Deltona Page 2 Printed on 9/27/2017 Affordable Housing Advisory Minutes July 18, 2017 Committee another summit or workshop as soon as possible to start working together to help the community. He also wanted to make sure that we reach as many people as we can so they know what services we have and find out what other services the residents would like to see come to Deltona. 10.
