Background: Follow up discussion of legislative priorities with the City’s lobbyist, GA McKeown & Associates, LLC. B. Discussion of proposed projects for Volusia County Ordinance 2019-4, levying upon voter approval a half cent local infrastructure sales tax for twenty years for roads, sidewalks, bridges, water quality, and stormwater and flood control; and requiring a citizens review committee. Strategic Goal: Infrastructure Background: Attached is Volusia County’s proposed ordinance that pursuant to section 212.055(2), Florida Statues, would impose the local government infrastructure surtax for twenty years, if approved by the voters at special referendum election on May 21, 2019. The ordinance limits use of the tax proceeds to infrastructure projects for roads, sidewalks, bridges, water quality, and stormwater and flood control. The City of Deltona Page 1 Printed on 2/6/2019 City Commission Workshop Agenda February 11, 2019 proceeds of the tax would be distributed to the county and to municipalities according to a statutory formula, unless otherwise the subject of an interlocal agreement.
