1. CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order at 6:05 pm.
2. ROLL CALL:
Also present: Ron Paradise, Planning and Development Service and Kathrine Kyp,
Planning and Development Services.

3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES & AGENDA:
A. Minutes of January 4, 2018.
Motion by James Diehl, seconded by Troy Shimkus, to accept the
Minutes of January 4, 2018. The motion carried by the following vote:
For: 4 - Chair Taylor, Member Diehl, Member Kendall and Member
Shimkus

6. OLD BUSINESS:
A. Sec. 110-808, Landscape Code Amendment.
The Committee discussed different Florida locations that displayed aesthetic landscaping.
Member Kendall noted that he has seen medians in Deltona and Lake Mary that look nice.
Mr. Paradise noted that Section 110-808 is intended to be applied to private development.
Discussion occurred regarding landscaping and approval of development. Mr. Paradise

noted the landscaping is reviewed by the Development Review Committee during the final
site plan review process.
The Committee discussed spelling errors, underline and strikethrough errors and grammar
errors. Discussion ensued regarding the appeals process being consistent throughout the
entire LDC. Mr. Paradise provided the Committee with the Bottle Stop and Family Dollar
sites on Howland Blvd. as an example of five (5) feet landscape buffer width between uses
and described the Dunkin Donuts on Howland Blvd. as 25 foot front landscape buffer.
Member Shimkus pointed out various additional grammar errors, strikethrough and
underline errors. It was requested that Staff provide a clean document for the Committee to
review that doesn't include strikethrough and underlines.
