April 29, 2015 CITY OF DERBY ROLL CALL GERALD BROWNLEE JIM BURGESS TOM DAVIDSON, SECRETARY DIANE SCHMITT, TREASURER DUANE DAY, VICE CHAIRMAN ELEANOR UNDERWOOD, CHAIRMAN - ABSENT CITY STAFF TED AUSTIN DEE WILLIAM KIM HART Public Forum KAY MORGAN COMMISSIONER JIM HOWELL Agenda Item #1 RE: County Commissioner Jim Howell. Dee introduced Commissioner Jim Howell. Dee Williams reviewed the County requirements for Evidence-Based Programs and statistics for the population of senior 65+ in Kansas. Jim Burgess reviewed the County requirements regarding Senior Health Insurance Counseling for Kansas (SHICK). Diane Schmitt reviewed County requirements regarding Volunteers. Duane Day reviewed Senior Center Participation for 2014. Dee spoke about future classes ahead for the Derby Senior Center. Kay Morgan gave statistics how a Senior Center saves the tax payers money. Commissioner Howell thanked the staff and board for the information presented. The Commissioner discussed many issues facing the County. Agenda Item #2 RE: Break. Agenda Item #3 RE: Kay Morgan. Dee let the Board members know Kay Morgan does not qualify to be on the Derby Advisory Board since she lives out USD 260 school district. Agenda Item #4 RE: Approve April 1st, 2015 Advisory Board Meeting minutes. 1 MOTION: Gerald Brownlee made a motion to approve the minutes from March 2015. Diane Schmitt seconded. VOTE: 4 yea, motion carried. Agenda Item #5 RE: Quilt. Dee Williams asked a board member to be in charge of the committee to show the quilt and accept donations for a drawing. Duane Day volunteered to head up the committee. Gerald Brownlee, Kay Morgan and Tom Davidson volunteered to help. MOTION: Gerald Brownlee made a motion for the Advisory Board to display the quilt at different locations around Derby and take donations for the quilt. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 4 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #6 RE: TNT. Tom Davidson made the suggestion patrons who come to TNT pre pay. If patrons pay when they sign up it would help with the planning and purchase of supplies. Discussion was held. MOTION: Gerald Brownlee made a motion starting in June Patrons will need to pay at the time of sign up for TNT. Diane Schmitt seconded. VOTE: 4 yea, motion carried.
