APPROVED MINUTES SENIOR CENTER ADVISORY BOARD 10:22 AM December 5th, 2017 CITY OF DERBY ROLL CALL GERALD BROWNLEE JANICE NEAGLE JIM BURGESS DIANE SCHMITT, TREASURER TOM DAVIDSON, SECRETARY ELEANOR UNDERWOOD, CHAIR DUANE DAY, VICE CHAIR CITY STAFF TED AUSTIN - ABSENT BREANNA MONK KIM HART Public Forum Agenda Item #1 Open Forum – Administrator’s comments – Board comments RE: Cover Dish Chicken Pick Up Duane Day let the Board know he cannot pick up the chicken for the Cover Dish Lunches any longer. Agenda Item #2 RE: Advisory Board Fund Report November 1st, 2017. Diane Schmitt gave the Advisory Board Fund Report for November 2017. The expenses for November totaled $239.10 and the income was $797. with an ending balance of $17,118.59. MOTION: Tom Davidson moved to approve and file the Advisory Board Fund Report for November 2017. Gerald Brownlee seconded. VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #3 RE: Approve November 1st, 2017 Minutes MOTION: Janice Neagle made a motion to approve the minutes from the November 1st, 2017 Derby Senior Center Advisory Board meetings. Duane Day seconded. VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried 1 Agenda Item #4 RE: Approve November 2017 Derby Dash Scholarship Report Kim Hart gave the report for the November 2017 Derby Dash Scholarship Report. $24 used in scholarships which leaves an ending balance of $295. MOTION: Diane Schmitt made a motion to approve the Derby Dash Scholarship Report for November 2017. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #5 RE: TNT Diane Schmitt gave the TNT report and menu for November 2017, the meal was Greek Chicken and there was a total of 61 served. The was a total profit of $155.70. Agenda Item #6 RE: Comment Cards BreAnna Monk and the Board decided to review the Comment Cards at the January 3rd Advisory Board Meeting. Agenda Item #7 RE: Covered Dish – Kim Hart let Diane Schmitt know she will not need to pick up food for the Cover Dish. Kim Hart is picking it up. Agenda Item #8 RE: Center Updates – Exercise Equipment BreAnna Monk provided the board with a hand out to show a rowing machine and a exercise bench that the seniors could use for upper body exercises. Discussion was held. Jim Burgess asked BreAnna about the cost of assembly for the rowing machine, BreAnna said it would be less than $100 and she also wanted to get the scale’s calibrated. MOTION: Jim Burgess made a motion for BreAnna to purchase the rowing machine with assembly and calibrate the scales. Janice Neagle seconded. AMEND TO THE MOTION: Jim Burgess made an Amended Motion for BreAnna to purchase the rowing machine with assembly, the exercise bench and calibrate the scales for a cost not to exceed $500. Janice Neagle seconded. 2 VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried. Agenda Item #9 RE: Can We Talk BreAnna Monk said the December 14th Can We Talk is Derby School District. BreAnna said she would like as many Board Members to attend as possible. ADJOURNMENT MOTION: Jim Burgess made a motion for adjournment. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 4 yea, motion carried.
