APPROVED MINUTES SENIOR CENTER ADVISORY BOARD CITY OF DERBY January 8, 2020 9:15 AM ROLL CALL JIM BURGESS JANICE NEAGLE DIXIE CHAPMAN DIANE SCHMITT, TREASURER TOM DAVIDSON, SECRETARY ELEANOR UNDERWOOD, CHAIR DUANE DAY, VICE CHAIR CITY STAFF KIEL MANGUS BREANNA MONK KIM HART Public Forum Agenda Item #1 RE: New Pots & Pans BreAnna let the Board know she is in the process of purchasing new pots and pans for the kitchen. RE: DRC Instructors BreAnna stated she has been working with the DRC on some new classes. The DRC will provide Instructors for the following: Aquatic Class – Starting February 2020, this class will be held at the DRC. Cardio Blast – Starting March 2020, this class will replace the Cardio Core and More class that is being done with a tape. Walking Program – Starting May 2020 Water Walking Class – Starting in June, this class will be held at Rock River Rapids. Stretching Class – BreAnna stated they are still in the process of setting up a stretching class that will be starting soon. RE: Lifeline Screening Jim Burgess asked BreAnna if a mailing list was sold to Lifeline Screening from the Derby Senior Center. BreAnna reassured Jim and the Board that the senior center would never give out that information and they are checking who provided their information. 1 Agenda Item #2 RE: Advisory Board Fund Report December 2019. Diane Schmitt gave the report for December 2019. The revenue totaled $200, expenses totaled $832.84, with an ending balance $9,729.14. MOTION: Tom Davidson made a motion to approve the Advisory Board Fund Report for December 2019. Janice Neagle seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #3 RE: Approve December, 2019 minutes. MOTION: Jim Burgess made a motion to approve the December 11, 2019 minutes. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #4 RE: Approve December 2019 Derby Dash Scholarship Report BreAnna gave the December 2019 Derby Dash Scholarship Report. $0 were used for senior scholarships which leaves an ending balance of $131. BreAnna said the non-senior Derby Dash Scholarship Program used $80, for an ending balance of $758. MOTION: Diane Schmitt made a motion to approve the Derby Dash Scholarship Report for December 2019. Dixie Chapman seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #5 RE: TNT December BreAnna stated TNT was sliced ham. Profit was $75.24 a total of 65 paying patrons and volunteers were served Agenda Item #6 RE: Progressive Bingo Concessions 2 BreAnna reviewed the Progressive Bingo Concession and the Supplies reports with the Board. BreAnna said the concession expense for December was $34.98 and revenue was $96.25 for a balance of (216.47). The Progressive Bingo Card Sales Revenue was $628. with a payout of $289. The balance in Progressive Bingo Supplies after expenses of $0 is $4,288.86. MOTION: Dixie Chapman made a motion to approve the Progressive Bingo Concession and Card Sales reports. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #7 RE: Covered Dish Chicken Covered Dish Lunch February 6th – Tom Davidson Covered Dish Lunch March 5th – Janice Neagle Agenda Item #8 RE: Center Updates Technology Lab - BreAnna stated she and Larry Gould have met about details to raise funds for the updates. Fitness Room – BreAnna told the Board that the DRC is going to be purchasing new equipment and they may have some used treadmills the senior center could purchase. BreAnna will be researching this. Agenda Item #9 RE: Suggestions / Comment Cards BreAnna read the only suggestion card which was asking for a trip to Wilmore Kansas to see the Italian Carousel. Agenda Item #10 RE: Can We Talk February 2020 – The topic will be the Census. BreAnna stated there will be a speaker to go over the electronic process and also answer questions. March 2020 – Local Government - BreAnna said the panel will be the Mayor Randy White, City Manager Kathy Sexton and County Commissioner Jim Howell. BreAnna stated there will be a box put out in the senior center for questions to be asked. The Board was invited to attend. 3 April 2020 – State Government – BreAnna stated the panel for this can we talk will be the State Representatives. BreAnna also encouraged the Board members to ask questions and attend these meetings. Agenda Item #11 RE: Recumbent Bike BreAnna stated the new recumbent bike has been delivered.
