APPROVED MINUTES SENIOR CENTER ADVISORY BOARD CITY OF DERBY October 14, 2020 9:15 AM ROLL CALL JIM BURGESS - ABSENT JANICE NEAGLE DIXIE CHAPMAN DIANE SCHMITT, TREASURER TOM DAVIDSON, SECRETARY ELEANOR UNDERWOOD, CHAIR DUANE DAY, VICE CHAIR CITY STAFF KIEL MANGUS - ABSENT BREANNA MONK KIM HART - ABSENT Public Forum Agenda Item #1 RE: Community Foundation Grant BreAnna stated that she applied and received a grant from the Derby Community Foundation to help with COVID-19 Relief. BreAnna said the donation was for $2,500 that $1,700 of it will go to the Activity Fund. The other $800 is being used for Friendship / Meals on Wheels. RE: Sedgwick County Report BreAnna stated there will be an agenda item in November for Jim Burgess to give an update on the Sedgwick County Report. RE: Drive to Vote BreAnna let the Board know the Derby Dash will be giving free rides to citizen for early and day of voting. These rides will be funded from scholarships. BreAnna stated she is going to apply for a grand from the Community Foundation to help with the scholarship Agenda Item #2 RE: Advisory Board Fund Report September 2020. Diane Schmitt gave the report for the Advisory Board Fund report September 2020. Diane said there was $0 in revenue and $76.50 in expenses for a total balance $5,558.59. MOTION: Duane Day moved the Advisory Board Fund Report for September 2020 be approved. Dixie Chapman seconded. VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #3 1 RE: Approve September 9, 2020 Minutes. MOTION: Diane Schmitt made a motion to approve the September 9, 2020 minutes, Duane Day seconded. VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #4 RE: Approve September 2020 Derby Dash Scholarship Report BreAnna gave the September 2020 Derby Dash Scholarship Report. $0 were used for senior scholarships. BreAnna said the non-senior Derby Dash Scholarship Program used $320 for an ending balance of $600. MOTION: Tom Davidson made a motion to approve the Derby Dash Scholarship Report for September 2020. Diane Schmitt seconded. VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #5 RE: Center Updates BreAnna stated the new treadmill has been delivered and is working great. Agenda Item #6 RE: Suggestion Cards BreAnna said there were no suggestion cards at this time. Agenda Item #7 RE: Covid-19 BreAnna let the Board know she and her staff at the Derby Senior Center are still following strict guidelines for the safety of its patrons. Masks, temperature checks and hand sanitizing are still required. Eleanor Underwood asked if the rules were still the same for Bingo. BreAnna said yes and the rules will be reviewed again at the beginning of each Bingo. Agenda Item #8 RE: Board Funding 2 BreAnna Monk stated the Murder Mystery Board fundraiser will be rescheduled for November 12, 2020. BreAnna said there was not enough patrons signed up at this point and this will allow time for sign-ups. RE: Fund Raising Letter BreAnna let the Board know the fundraising letters are in the process of being mailed out. BreAnna also explained there is a survey for Accreditation included in the mailing and she hopes to receive them back by the beginning of November.
