CODE ENFORCEMENT REPORT COMMITTEE REPORTS Public Works – Applications received and submitted to the public works committee. Applications accepted until Feb 6, 2023, by advertisement. Buildings and Grounds – Police - Finance/Budget – Summaries of Garlane Mills and the 2021-22 Paving Project presented to council. Zoning/UCC/Code – Parks and Recreation – Fire Protection – Pool Committee – Grants – 1 ANNOUNCEMENTS Derry Borough Council went into executive session at the Derry Borough Council Worksession held on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 8:02pm for personnel of the Derry Community Outdoor Pool. Executive session ended at 8:25pm. PLANNING COMMISSION Occupancy Permit Ordinance Review – Planning Commission minutes provided to council from January 2023 meeting. REPRESENTATIVES  DARCee meeting 4th Weds 7pm monthly  Derry Area Historical Society – Board Meeting are held at the Fulton House on the 3rd Monday monthly at 6:30pm. (derryareahistory)  Derry Railroad Days Committee meets the 3rd Tuesday monthly at 6:30pm at AV Germano Hall (Alternative meeting place is the Fulton House in New Derry) Always looking for new members from Derry Borough! COMMUNICATIONS  Sable Kennel presented council with a new 2 year contract for approval  Cell phones are now working again for police, public works and Mayor. Verizon agreed to maintain the numbers as is with Sara Cowan’s request since they are for public safety  Westmoreland Conservation District is holding a Municipal Roundtable on Friday, February 24, 2023 11:30am-3:30 pm Cost $15/per person Topics of discussion Stormwater and MS4 Topics, Conservation Partnership Agreements and Dirt and Gravel Roads, Funding for Agricultural Conservation  Habitat for Humanity – Courtney Guerrieri reported that they are still reviewing the High Street property and it is still a candidate for an upcoming project, but there are several properties in line ahead of our project. It could be up to 18 months prior to any movement with the particular parcel in our community.  Letter of resignation from Daniel Chaney for council  Westmoreland County Parks and Recreation – Art Grant available up to $1,000. Application deadline is March 28, 2023.  Westmoreland County’s 2nd Annual Blight Remediation Summit – April 21, 2023 at WCCC Blight Boot Camp  Westmoreland County Boroughs Association Banquet Friday, April 28, 2023 at Ferrentes Lakeview Rt. 30 Greensburg, PA. The menu choice and the cost to be announced.  DARCee Car Show will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at the Derry Community Park  Westmoreland Cleanways sent all communities information regarding Lens on Litter Contest. www.prc.org This is to spike interest in cleaning up litter throughout our PA communities. The PRC is having a contest called lens on litter 2  photo contest for amateur photographers to bring awareness to how litter threatens public health and safety, scenic beauty and property values as well as wildlife and the environment. Derry Borough Community could declare a neighborhood pick up garbage day in early spring to help eliminate garbage in our community in a partnership with DARCee. UNFINISHED BUSINESS 1. Municipal Building – (Plumbing) Approve quote to open up bathroom in municipal building for Gregory and Martin to investigate sewer lines that are deteriorated. 3. Public Works Laborer Position 4. Approve opening the Derry Outdoor Community Pool for the 2023 Summer Season Approve to apply for the Legislative KCP grant of $50,000 for the Derry Outdoor Community Pool 3  Approve to purchase the new motors for operation of the pool according to Adam, Public Works Crew Leader report, the main motor is $2990 and to repair the small one the cost is $300 5. Approve Lawn Rx Quotes for Mossback, Municipal Building and Community Dog Park 6. Approve 2023 Salt Participation Contract bid amount for 650 tons for the 2023-2024 winter season. 7. Approve Easter Egg Hunt hosted by Derry Railroad Days Committee to be held at the Derry Community Park on Saturday, April 8, 2024 from 1-3pm. 12.
