Team recently conducted a weekend cleanup of a commercial vacant lot on Palm Drive. This property had been affected by illegal dumping, creating an eyesore and a nuisance for nearby businesses. The cleanup underscores the ongoing efforts of the DHS H.O.T. Team to improve the community and enhance the appearance of one of the city's main thoroughfares. Additionally, The Desert Hot Springs H.O.T. Team conducted four other encampment abatements with the consent of the private property owners. Following each cleanup, all personal property was inventoried and stored, and 602 "No Trespassing" signs were posted on the properties.  Officer Brock opened a case regarding a single-family residential property located at 66262 Avenida Dorado due to violations involving trash, junk, and outdoor storage in the front yard. The property owner made slow but steady progress and eventually resolved all outstanding violations. The before and after photos are provided below.  Officer Brock gained compliance from the owner of a single-family residential property located at 10680 Sunset Avenue. The case was opened due to issues related to landscape maintenance, trash accumulation, and unpaved parking. After several inspections and Notices of Violation, the property owner acted by adding grass to the front yard, removing vehicles that were parked on unpaved surfaces, and clearing away the trash.  Officer Chaffin towed four inoperable vehicles from private property after obtaining a warrant from the courts. These vehicles had been left parked and dismantled, creating a visual blight in the surrounding neighborhood. The first arriving Company Officer 10/7/2024 11:20:00AM reported a large manufacturing facility, with light smoke inside and fire protection system sprinkler activation. Crews were able to located the fire inside the warehouse, containing it to the room of origin. Desert Hot Springs building officials were requested to follow up. 24CARRU155329 CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department resources were dispatched to a traffic collision reported with occupants trapped within a vehicle. The first arriving Fire Department resource 10/8/2024 6:00:00PM reported a two-car traffic collision confirmed with an occupant trapped and requested an additional ground ambulance to respond to the incident. Firefighters utilized hydraulic rescue tools to extract the trapped occupant and both patients were transported to a local trauma center with moderate injuries. * SIRF reporting was delayed due to additional emergency responses. 24CARRU156070 CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department resources were dispatched to a reported residential structure fire on San Remo Rd. The first arriving Company Officer (Engine 37) reported a single 10/10/2024 5:59:00AM story residential structure fully engulfed with fire. Firefighters were able to ensure all occupants were out of the structure. One resident complained of possible smoke inhalation and was assessed by Firefighter Paramedics and AMR Ambulance and refused transportation to a hospital. While Firefighters were suppressing the fire, a dog was rescued and returned to its owner. The City of Desert Hot Springs Building and Safety is at the scene assisting the residents and Red Cross has been notified due to the displacement of occupants. 24CARRU170690 CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department resources were dispatched to a reported apartment fire at 66163 3rd St. Prior to the Fire Department's arrival at scene, Desert Hot Springs Police 11/5/2024 8:15:00PM Officers arrived at the scene and confirmed an established fire within a single-story apartment and ensured all neighboring occupancies were evacuated. Firefighters made access to a fire in a bathroom closet of an unoccupied apartment and were able to extinguish the fire and contain the damage to the single apartment.
