Code Compliance Synopsis
Officer Human has issued requests for proposals to demolish two properties that have been
identified as public nuisances. An Administrative Hearing for one of these properties is set to
take place next month, in March. The city is likely to receive a warrant from the courts for the
second property.
Supervisor Messer has successfully closed a year-long case regarding illegal construction at a
single-family residential property. Throughout this process, Supervisor Messer collaborated with
the property owner by granting multiple extensions to allow sufficient time for obtaining the
necessary permits and conducting required building and engineering inspections. Although
the process was slow for the property owner, they ultimately took the appropriate steps to
ensure compliance. Below are the before and after photos.
Officer Brock had a case open for a vacant residential lot located at Two Bunch Palms Trail
and El Cajon Drive. During the initial inspection, this lot was found to be in violation for being
used as a dumping ground for landscape trimmings, trash, junk, and household furniture.
Officer Brock took steps to ensure that the property owner was properly notified about the
lot's status. As a result, the property owner cleared the lot and posted 602 signage to deter
illegal dumping. Please see the before and after photos below.
Officer Human has successfully closed a case involving the commercial business Mojave River
Academy, located at 14020 Palm Drive, due to a violation regarding improper groundcover
installation. Notices were sent to both the property and business owners, notifying them of the
violation. In response, the business has added adequate landscaping to the front and side
areas, significantly enhancing the overall appearance. Please find the before and after
photos below for your review.
Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Officer Pamela Chaffin secured compliance from the
registered owners of two inoperable and wrecked vehicles that violated the city’s municipal
code and created a nuisance for nearby properties.
