Community Resource Fair Discussion Commissioner Flores proposed a resource fair in October to connect residents with resources. There has been an increase in animals being returned to owners due to the officers calling and emailing the rightful owners right away, even sending texts messages to the respectful owners. This leads to better animal welfare as they do not have to be in our custody for long, and citizens being reunited with their animals quickly.  On May 27th, a concerned citizen came to the Hacienda Animal Control facility with an injured 8-month-old Doberman Pincher puppy, which was then named Spot. Upon further examination of the puppy, animal control officer Robert Falato saw that the puppy had a severe injury to his right back leg. The citizen who brought in the puppy informed us that he had been run over. Officer Falato took quick action and transported the puppy to a local urgent care. Sadly, we were told the puppies’ injuries were far more excessive, and the cost would be extremely expensive to cover, so it was decided to humanly euthanize Spot so he would not be in pain. On the day of Spots appointment to be put down, the veterinarian’s 1 Item Number: 2. Later in the day we were pleased to hear that a rescue heard Spots story and paid for the entirety of Spots treatment and care. Spot is now a three-legged puppy enjoying his second chance at life with his fellow rescues, all thanks to the fast and diligent work of our officers and veterinarians.  On May 16th, 2025, Animal Control Officer Robert Falato was called out to assist an injured dog by the name of Diamond in front of Kings Liquor store on Palm Dr. Officer Falato observed that the dog sustained injuries to its back left leg, and the owner stated that the dog was hit by a car the previous night. He transported Diamond to Urgent Care in Palm Desert. The owner relinquished his ownership, and the dog was later taken in by the rescue. Diamond is now on the road to recovery. 2 Item Number: 2. This lot had multiple violations of the city’s municipal code, including an illegal concrete foundation pad installed without the necessary permits, a chain link fence surrounding the property, and issues related to trash, junk, and illegal dumping. Thanks to Officer Human's continued enforcement efforts, which included winning an administrative hearing, obtaining a demolition warrant, and securing bids for the demolition, the concrete foundation pad has been successfully removed, and the case is now closed. This case highlights Officer Human's commitment to resolving the issue. Below, you will find photos showing the condition of the property before the demolition, followed by images of the site after the work was completed.  Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Officer Pamela Chaffin has completed and submitted the Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Report for Quarter 3 to the county. This report details Officer Chaffin’s issued Notices of Violations and the number of abated vehicles for the reporting period from January 1, 2025, to March 31, 2025.  Compliance Officer Michael Miller conducted a cleanup of a vacant lot off San Ardo, which was littered with trash and debris. Officer Miller contacted the property owner to inform them about the condition of their property and received consent to proceed with the cleanup efforts.  Compliance Officers, Michael Miller and Randy Towner, had 43 engagements with our unhoused population. The nine clients who accepted services were connected to sobering centers or mental health treatment services.  Code Compliance has begun the end-of-year Cost Recovery efforts for the fiscal year 2024-2025. During this period, the administrative staff will generate the Outstanding Collections Report, which lists property owners who received a citation from May 1, 2024, through April 30, 2025.
