Community and Government Affairs Committee Meeting Minutes Monday, February 10, 2025 6:00 PM Present: Councilpersons Ben Bell, Elizabeth Wyckoff, and Larry Browne, Borough Manager John Davis, and Recreation and Special Events Coordinator Caitlin Hernandez. Council President Jack O’Brien, Councilmember Robert Kinney, and Mayor Noni West were also in attendance. Approval of December 9, 2024 Minutes. Minutes were approved as submitted. CBSD Linden and Doyle Elementary Schools Proposals. John reviewed details from the recent meeting regarding the proposed school changes, which was very well attended. Many community members shared their thoughts of opposition to the plan. The Committee discussed the plan and financial details at length. Several community members attended the meeting to share their thoughts. Block Party Schedule. Caitlin shared information on the upcoming Block Party schedule. A portion of West Court Street has been added to the schedule. The Committee voted to forward the schedule to Borough Council for approval. John is working on security options for the block parties along with Chief Knott and Public Works Director Dave Burger. Youth Leadership Award Update. Caitlin has one nomination currently, with reminders going out on social media until the deadline of March 15. Economic Development Report. Caitlin reviewed several commercial vacancies in the Borough, as well as a handful of new and changing businesses. John provided an update on the exterior repairs at 34 West State Street, which are moving along. Social Media Report. Caitlin reviewed the continued increase in social media interaction on all platforms and positive feedback on the Borough’s activities. New/Old Business.
