Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, February 3, 2026 – 7:00 p.m.
James Lannon, Gary Harris, Doreen McVaugh (via Zoom), Bob Huether, Patrick McCauley, Molly Crotty, and Caitlin
Hernandez, Director of Parks and Recreation, were present.
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.
The minutes from the January 6, 2026, meeting were approved as submitted.
Caitlin gave a Budget Update. She shared the concept plan for the renovations at Burpee Pavilion, which was designed
and drafted by Rick Brown. This will be included in the 2027 budget, and in the meantime, we will be applying for a grant
from the DCNR. Also included in the 2026 budget was a Parks and Recreation vehicle, an electric Chevy Blazer. It will
primarily be used for transporting supplies for various Park and Rec activities. The board requested looking into
improvements at Hillside Park. Caitlin recommended including Hillside in this year's park tour for consideration for the
2027 budget.
Caitlin shared her thoughts on the Easter Egg Hunt. Easter is early this year, and she would like to host the hunt, rain or
shine, on April 4. Caitlin asked for volunteers to help at the activity.
Concerts at the Commons will happen in May. We will host one concert each Thursday in May. Joe, from Stage United, is
working on additional sponsorship opportunities. We will have food and drink vendors again this year. We may also expand
food and drink options to businesses outside the Borough this year.
Caitlin gave her brief Recreation Director Report. She updated the Board with the leases for DAA baseball and Plumstead
softball. DAA will have the fields at Maplewood, and Plumstead will have Burpee and Neis softball fields. Leases for DAA
Volleyball and Basketball will also be updated.
Old/New Business: Under the old business section, Caitlin shared additional thoughts and research on the Doody Queen
dog waste bag proposal. The board did not see a community demand for pet waste stations and expressed concern about
the ongoing maintenance and associated costs. As a result, they do not recommend moving forward with the project.
There being no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 7:34 pm.
