Planning Commission - Comprehensive Plan Meeting

DOYLESTOWN BOROUGH PLANNING COMMISSION AUGUST 13, 2024 MEETING MINUTES The meeting of the Doylestown Borough Planning Commission was held at Borough Hall at 7:00 pm on August 13, 2024. Members present were as follows: James Lannon, Chairman P.R. West Heather Mahaley Andy Happ MaryAnn Baenninger Nicholas Caramenico Lynn Bush Also present were Lynn Lai and Mike Roedig of the Bucks County Planning Commission, Steve Nelson of the Environmental Action Committee, and Doylestown Borough Director of Building and Zoning Karyn Hyland. CALL TO ORDER: Mr. Lannon called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance in honor of Martin Corr. MEETING MINUTES: The June 11, 2024, meeting minutes were approved as submitted. COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE: Mr. Roedig gave an update on the development of the Comprehensive Plan. The first draft will be submitted in October 2024, and a final draft will be received in November and passed along to the Borough Council in January 2025. Mr. Roedig also shared the plan's layout and how it will be presented in a “workbook” form. In conjunction with the County Planning Commission consultants, the Commission reviewed the draft and adjusted wording, grammar, and similar items. Ample time was spent discussing the various aspects of the draft document, including attainable housing, parking, and economic diversity. Mr. Roedig will take the suggested edits and corrections, make the necessary changes, and return with a partially completed draft in September. Mr. Lannon is anxious to keep the momentum going and wants to remain on task with the decided-upon timeline. OLD/NEW BUSINESS: Under new business, a sketch plan for 57 W. Court Street will be presented at the regularly scheduled meeting for the Planning Commission. This is a preliminary drawing before we see a fully engineered set of plans. It is a rough configuration, and the applicant will seek feedback on design aspects from our Commission. They are proposing to demolish the former Borough Hall, which has been granted.
