MINUTES CITY OF DRIPPING SPRINGS FARMERS MARKET ASSOCIATION REGULAR MEETING Tuesday, April 2, 2013 10:00 a.m. City Hall 511 Mercer Street Dripping Springs, Texas This facility is wheelchair accessible and accessible parking spaces are available. MEETING CALLED TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL Marianne Simmons, Chair Gina Gillis Kambra Bolch Gouri Johannsen Danny Turner Sandy Pedrazas Jo Ann Touchstone, Secretary Thomas Brownson Marianne calls the meeting to order at 10:10 a.m. All present except Gina Gillis, Danny Turner, Thomas Brownson and Sandy Pedrazas. Also present Market Manager Carolyn Hodges. II. PRESENTATIONS BY CITIZENS Floor open to discussion on any subject. No action may be taken by law. Citizens wishing to speak shall do so after being recognized by the Chair. The Chair may establish a time limit as necessary. No one speaks. III. MINUTES A. Approval of Regular Meeting Minutes, March 5, 2013 – Marianne motions to approve with corrections noted. Kambra seconds. Motion passes, 4-0. IV. REPORTS No Action to be Taken: 1. Update Regarding Proposed Legislation Affecting Farmers Markets – Jo Ann states the Farm and Ranch Freedom alliance continues to send updates regarding proposed bills. 2. Update on Advertising – Jo Ann reports the City is including the market in an ad for Mercer Street in Travelhost Magazine as well as an ad in the Guide to Dripping Springs. 3. Update on Dripping Springs High School Volunteer Fair – Carolyn reports that four new students signed up at the fair. V. BUSINESS Discussion and Possible Action regarding: A. Planning for 2013 Season 1. Educational Program with Bloom – Jo Ann states that Elizabeth with Bloom will be on site at 5:00 p.m. on April 17th to answer questions about deer and drought resistant plants. B. Review of 2013 Vendor Applications – No new applications pending. C. 2013 Vendor Inspections - Moody was done. Still needed: Mick and Custom Collars. D. Rules and Regulations for Service Providers and Non Profits – Kambra provides redline and Board reviews. Kambra will bring a final to next regular meeting. E. Founders Day Parade Float - The Board will not participate this year. F. Guidelines for Sponsorship – Board discusses sponsorship opportunities and schedules special meeting for April 23rd to draft sponsorship guidelines. G. Review of Market Events 1. Season Kick Off – Well attended and no problems reported. 2. Easter Show with Starbella Dance Co. – Event was good for community, but did not draw additional shoppers. For future planning: dance numbers including music and costumes will need to be reviewed and approved by the Board or market manager. VI. ANNOUNCEMENTS A.
