City of Dripping Springs MEETING MINUTES Farmers Market Association Board Meeting Agenda Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 10:00 AM City Hall, 511 Mercer Street, Dripping Springs, Texas I. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL COMMISSION: Gouri Johannsen - Chair Diana Black Claudia Oney Marianne Simmons - Vice Chair Gary Gilstrap Charissa Giles Aimee Mick - Secretary Teresa Strube Market Manager: Laurel Robertson The Regular Meeting of the City of Dripping Springs Farmers Market Association Board was called to order at 10:13AM, Thursday, January 19, 2017 by Gouri Johannsen. Roll call was taken and members present included, Gouri Johannsen - Chair, Marianne Simmons, Claudia Oney, Teresa Strube, and Aimee Mick serving as secretary. Gary Gilstrap, Diana Black and Charissa Giles was absent. Laurel Robertson, Market Manager was also in attendance. II. PRESENTATION BY CITIZENS Floor open to discussion on any subject. No action may be taken by law. Citizens wishing to speak shall do so after being recognized by the Chair. The Chair may establish a time limit on each citizen wishing to speak. Bonnie Gonzalez and Lynn Dickinson, with the City of Dripping Spring Communication Office, presented two new programs, “Healthy Parks Healthy People Dripping Springs” program and “Its Time Texas Community Challenge” program. “Healthy Parks Healthy People Dripping Springs” will be targeting a May timeframe for a nutritional demo at a Farmers Market. The Marketing committee will discuss further and bring a vote to the Farmers Market Board at a later date. Bonnie Gonzalez will be present at each farmer’s market from now thru March 31, 2017 to advertise and help sign individuals up for “Its Time Texas Community Challenge” III. MINUTES A. Approval of Regular Meeting Minutes, December 13, 2016 A motion was made by Marianne Simmons and seconded by Teresa Strube to approve the Regular meeting minutes from December 13, 2016, with the following amendments. Item VIII. RULES AND REGULATIONS SUBCOMMITTEE, A. Update on the Dripping Springs Farmers Market Rules and Regulations Revisions. was tabled until January meeting. Vote: 5-0 in favor, motion passes. IV. REPORTS A. Farmers Market Manager's Monthly Report Report from the Market Manager to the Board regarding Farmers Market activities. B. Fiscal Year 2017 Income Statement Monthly Report V. OTHER BUSINESS Discussion and possible action regarding: A. New Vendor Applications 1. Big Brazos Sustainable Farm  Application was accepted on a temporary basis by the Market Manager. Inspection pending. B. Farmers Market Association Board Subcommittee Assignments The current subcommittees for the Dripping Springs are identified as: Sponsorship, Marketing, Rules and Regulations and Tomato Round-up and Volunteer. C. Pending Vendor Inspections Laurel will update list and distribute. D. Market Change of Venue (continuing discussion from last meeting) Tabled until February Meeting. E. Proposal to Increase Booth Fees for Vendors Paying Weekly Discussion held, item tabled till February meeting. VI. MARKETING AND PUBLIC RELATIONS Discussion and possible action regarding: A. Marketing and Public Relations Committee Report - Marianne Simmons Item tabled till February meeting. B. Market Events Planning and Updates - Marianne Simmons VII. MARKET VENUE Discussion and Possible Action regarding: A. Discussion Regarding Triangle Parking Issues Kay Allen will spearhead solving parking issues. B. Discussion Regarding Market Layout Issues Booth spaces have been moved to help grass recover and City will re-seed area. C. Discussion Regarding Market Information Booth VIII.
