Minutes of Farmers Market Meeting
Thursday, July 20, 2017 10:00 am
City Hall, 511 Mercer Street, Dripping Springs, Texas
I. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL
COMMISSION;
Gouri Johannsen - Chair Claudia Oney Teresa Strube
Marianne Simmons - Vice Chair Charissa Giles Lori Broughton
Vacancy Vacancy Market Manager: Laurel Robertson
Chair Gouri Johannsen called meeting to order at 10:10 and conducted roll call.
Board members present: Gouri Johannsen, Marianne Simmons, Charissa Giles,
Teresa Strube and Claudia Oney.
II. PRESENTATION BY CITIZENS
Floor open to discussion on any subject. No action may be taken by law. Citizens
wishing to speak shall do so after being recognized by the Chair. The Chair may
establish a time limit on each citizen wishing to speak.
Vendor David Benford presented issues for discussion to the board.
III. REPORTS
A. Market Manager Laurel’s May reports were reviewed.
B. Income Statement not included in meeting documents. Tabled.
IV. MARKETING AND PUBLIC RELATIONS
Board reviewed Marianne’s report and discussed:
newsletter content and layout (Laurel’s weekly market newsletter)
website issues and necessary changes for market pages
advertising art for print media
V. MARKET EVENTS
A. Discussed report on Tomato Roundup. Final income tabulation
not yet available. Also discussed storage for equipment, Roundup
related as well as market related.
B. Discussed rodeo event and watermelon seed contest logistics.
VI. SPONSORSHIPS COMMITTEE
Tabled discussion
VII. RULES AND REGULATIONS COMMITTEE
Tabled discussion
VIII. OTHER BUSINESS
A. Discussed 2017-2018 budget changes, amounts, line items. Marianne
moved to approve budget with amounts for FM Manager/Coordinator
to be switched; Charissa seconded. VOTE: all in favor, motion
passed.
B. Discussion and review of vendor apps:
Claudia moved to accept application for vendor Billie Lorraine
Jewelry; Marianne seconded. VOTE: all in favor, motion passed.
Marianne moved to decline application for vendor Campbell, Claudia
seconded. VOTE: all in favor, motion passed.
Marianne moved to accept application for Stacks Smokehouse; Gouri
seconded. VOTE: all in favor, motion passed.
Charissa left meeting at 11:30.
C. Market fee structure discussion tabled.
D. Laurel’s hours and pay tabled.
E. Board members reviewed vendors to inspect.
F. Last meeting minutes were not reviewed as they were not included
with meeting documents. Tabled until next meeting.
IX. ADJOURN
Claudia moved to adjourn meeting at 12:27 pm; Gouri seconded. VOTE: all in
favor, motion passed.
