Minutes of Farmers Market Meeting

I. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL
COMMISSION;
Gouri Johannsen - Chair Claudia Oney Teresa Strube
Marianne Simmons - Vice Chair Charissa Giles Lori Broughton
Vacancy Vacancy Market Manager: Laurel Robertson
Chair Gouri Johannsen called meeting to order at 10:06 and conducted roll call.
Board members present: Gouri Johannsen, Marianne Simmons, Charissa Giles,
Lori Broughton, Claudia Oney, and Teresa Strube.
Claudia joined meeting at 10:40.
II. PRESENTATION BY CITIZENS
Floor open to discussion on any subject. No action may be taken by law. Citizens
wishing to speak shall do so after being recognized by the Chair. The Chair may
establish a time limit on each citizen wishing to speak.
III. REPORTS
A. Market Manager Laurel’s latest reports were reviewed.
B. Income Statement not included in meeting documents. Tabled.
IV. MARKETING AND PUBLIC RELATIONS
Board reviewed Marianne’s reports and discussed:
A. Fair rodeo report
Marketing committee report
Tomato Roundup report
B. Website issues and necessary changes for market pages
Social media plans; marketing subcommittee will collaborate with
city staff
C. Special events: featuring on website, social media, newsletter, email
members
V. ADVERTISING BUDGET
Tabled
VI. MARKET VENUE
A. Discussion re: guidelines
B. Onsite storage; Laurel will finalize recommendations for next mtg.
Marianne moved to budget $300 for storage bin; Gouri
seconded. VOTE: all in favor, motion passed.
C. Senior Citizens Center proposal for donations from members will be
supported by Laurel sending letter to members.
D. Discussed market coverage for Laurel while she’s out of town.
VII. SPONSORSHIPS
Laurel announced possible new sponsor.
VIII. RULES AND REGS
Discussed remaining changes, additions, and policies.
IX. OTHER BUSINESS
A. Discussed 2017-2018 budget changes, amounts, line items. No word
on feedback or documents from City staff.
B. Discussion of vendor app of taco truck. Claudia moved to approve,
Charissa seconded. VOTE: all in favor, motion passed.
C. Market fee changes moved to December for discussion/decision.
D. Market hours discussed. Claudia moved to leave hours as is;
Marianne seconded. VOTE: all in favor, motion passed.
E. Laurel’s hours and pay discussed. She will present proposal for her
hourly rate by contract next meeting.
F. Board members reviewed vendors to inspect.
X. ADJOURN
Marianne moved to adjourn meeting at 12:52 pm; Gouri seconded. VOTE: all in
favor, motion passed.
