Regular Meeting Minutes
May 21, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.
A Regular Meeting of the Farmers Market Association Board was held Thursday, May 21, 2020 beginning
at 10:00 a.m. via Videoconference and in City Hall Conference Room No. 1 located at 511 Mercer Street,
Dripping Springs, Texas.
I. VIDEOCONFERENCING MEETING
This meeting will be held via videoconference and the public is encouraged and welcome to
participate. Public comment may be given during the videoconference by joining the meeting using
the information below. Public comment for this meeting may also be submitted to the City Secretary
at acunningham@cityofdrippingsprings.com, no later than 9:00 a.m., Thursday, May 21, 2020.
The Farmers Market Association Board respectfully requests that all microphones and webcams be
disabled unless you are a member of the Board. City staff, consultants and presenters please enable
your microphone and webcam when presenting to the Board.

II. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL
Board Members present were:
Gouri Johannsen, Chair
Marianne Simmons, Vice Chair

David Vincent (left meeting at 11:29 a.m.)

With a quorum present, Chair Johannsen called the meeting to order at 10:04 a.m.
III. PRESENTATION OF CITIZENS
A member of the public who desires to address the Board regarding any item on an agenda for an
open meeting may do so at presentation of citizens before an item or at a public hearing for an item
during the Board’s consideration of that item. Citizens wishing to discuss matters not contained within
the current agenda may do so, but only during the time allotted for presentation of citizens. Speakers
are allowed two (2) minutes to speak during presentation of citizens or during each public hearing.
Speakers may not cede or pool time. Members of the public requiring the assistance of a translator
will be given twice the amount of time as a member of the public who does not require the assistance
of a translator to address the Board. It is the request of the Board that members of the public wishing
to speak on item(s) on the agenda with a noticed Public Hearing hold their comments until the item(s)
are presented for consideration. Speakers are encouraged to sign in. Anyone may request a copy of
the City’s policy on presentation of citizens from the city secretary. By law no action may be taken
during Presentations of Citizens.
No one spoke during Presentation of Citizens.
IV. MINUTES
A. Discuss and consider approval of the April 16, 2020 Farmers Market Association
Board regular meeting minutes.
A motion was made by Board Member Oney motioned to approve minutes. Board Member
Vincent seconded the motion which carried unanimously 6 to 0.

Farmers Market Manager Laurel Robertson
Laurel Robertson discussed anonymous sales records provided by vendors. The Board
directed staff to begin collecting records that identify vendor sales records.
C. Farmers Market April 2020 Income Statement
City Treasurer Gina Gillis
Report is on file and available for review by request.
VI. MARKETING & PUBLIC RELATIONS
A. Discuss and consider possible action regarding Ad Sales for newsletter.
Laurel Robertson will check with City Administration for the go-ahead on creating an
advertising opportunity inside the weekly newsletter.
A motion was made by Board Member Vincent to approve moving ahead with creating this
ad program after approved by City Administration. Board member Dahlin seconded the
motion which carried unanimously 6 to 0.
B. Update and possible action regarding Special Events during COVID-19.
The Board discussed upcoming events. Via unanimous consent the Board decided to hold
the Tomato Time Event but to keep it small and simple to prioritize public safety; and,
directed Maggie Martin to begin kick-off preparations and to prepare a “celebratory”
presentation for the event.
C. Discuss and consider possible action regarding Advertising related to the Farmers
Market.
The Board discussed the newsletter and that it will provide opportunity to sell ad space to
vendors.
Via unanimous consent the Board directed Laurel Robertson to continue the monthly
Outlook article and advertising.
VII. MARKET VENUE
A. Discuss and consider approval of New Vendor Applications.
1. Shawls by Viktoria
A motion was made by Vice Chair Simmons to approve the Vendor Application for Shawls
by Viktoria. Board Member Oney seconded the motion which carried unanimously 5 to 0.

2. Stratton Woodworks
Via unanimous consent, the Board approved the Vendor Application for Stratton
Woodworks with the condition that the Application Packet is provided to the Board at the
June 18, 2020 meeting.
Laurel Robertson presented a Vendor Application for Lady Nomad for the Boards
consideration.
A motion was made by Chair Johannsen to approve the Vendor Application for
Lady Nomad. Board Member Dahlin seconded the motion which carried
unanimously 5 to 0.
Laurel Robertson reviewed the updated Vendor list.
VIII. OTHER BUSINESS
A. Discuss and consider approval of Revised Farmers Market Association Board Fiscal
Year 2021 Budget Recommendation.
Via unanimous consent the Board approved the Revised Farmers Market Association Board
Fiscal Year 2021 Budget Recommendation.

Declaration, and Center for Disease Control guidelines related to COVID-19, a quorum of this body
could not be gathered in one place, and this meeting will be conducted through videoconferencing.
