Founder’s Day Commission
Monthly Meeting
February 23, 2015
Attending: Brenda Medcalf, Evan Taddia, Chris Nuccio, Stephanie Holtzendorf, Sharon Goss, Mike
Monaghan, Ted Lehr, Trent Edwards, Brad Thomas, Chris Nuccio, Steve Fournier
Absent: Karl Seelback, Paul Sanchez
I. Call to Order: 6:43 pm by Brenda Medcalf
II. Presentation of Citizens
None.
Minutes: Minutes of the February 9th meeting will be submitted next meeting.
III. Business
A. Founders Day Festival Facilities Use Agreement Between the City of Dripping Springs,
Dripping Springs Lions Club and Dripping Springs Independent School District.
Contract was reviewed by commissioners. Brad made a motion to accept the contract as submitted.
Evan seconded. Contract accepted.
B. 2015 Founders Day Contracts
1. Dripping Springs Cook Off Club
Contract was reviewed by commissioners. Brad made a motion to accept the
contract as submitted. Evan seconded. Contract accepted.
2. Dripping Springs Lions Club for the Mighty Thomas Carnival
Contract was reviewed by commissioners. Wayne with the Lions Club has not
given approval for the contract.
C. Sound System Bid for Putting Wireless Speakers Throughout the Founders Day Event Area
for Parade and Announcements
Contract was reviewed by commissioners. Perfect Day Productions Company is local.
Evan made a motion to accept the contract as submitted. Steve seconded. Contract accepted.
D. Advertising Proposal from Sun Radio/KDRP for Founders Day 2015
Proposal was reviewed by commissioners. All feel that at this time we do not need advertising.
Steve made a motion to decline the proposal. Chris seconded. Proposal declined.
Only sponsors are allowed to have banners in the event area. Sun Radio/KDRP may have banners
displayed if they would like to become a sponsor.
Standing Committee Reports
A. Site Plan
First Aid station will be located at Bluff next to EMS.
Will need to rent light plants.
B. Food
No Report.

C. Entertainment
No Report.
D. Arts & Crafts
Applications are continuing to come in and spaces are still available.
E. Business Booths
No Report.
F. Parade
Some applications have been received.
G. Publicity
First press release went out last week. Another is scheduled to go out soon and DaNae would like to
include the entertainment line up.
H. Sponsorship/Underwriting
$8250 received to date. $30,000 needed.
I. Sanitation
No Report
J. Security
Security meeting tentatively scheduled for March 23rd.
Meeting also needs to be scheduled for Emergency Management.
K. Traffic/Parking
Need more people at gates.
Traffic control plan needs changing.
Need a group to volunteer for parking if the commission could work to get the school district to allow
parking in the high school parking lot. The City has the trams at the Dripping Springs Ranch Park
permission to use might be obtained.
L. Volunteers
Publicity going out on social media has been mentioning the need for volunteers.
Sponsor for volunteer’s t-shirts – Steve will look into this.
Set up, tear down and parade are largest volunteer needs.
