HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION

I. MEETING CALLED TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL
Chairman Ted Lehr calls the meeting to order at 5:37 pm and takes roll call. Present:
Commissioner Ted Lehr, Chair; Commissioner Kathryn Chandler; Commissioner Charlie
Haydon; Commissioner John Holdridge; Commissioner John McIntosh, Vice Chair; and
Commissioner Karl Seelbach. Absent: Commissioner Linda Freeman. Also present is
City Administrator Michelle Fischer.
II. PRESENTATION BY CITIZENS-no one speaks.
III. CONSENT
Discussion and Possible action regarding:
A. Approval of Regular Meeting Minutes, October 7, 2013
B. Approval of Regular Meeting Minutes, November 4, 2013
C. Approval of Special Meeting Minutes, November 18, 2013
Commissioner Seelbach makes a motion to approve the October7th, November
4th, and November 18th minutes, seconded by Commissioner McIntosh. Vote: all
in favor. The motion is carried.
IV. BUSINESS
Discussion and Possible action regarding:
A. Participation in Christmas on Mercer Street
1. Booth and Materials-Commissioner discuss the booth needs and what
people will bring.
2. Volunteer Schedule-Commissioners discuss the volunteer schedule.
3. Talking Points-Commissioners review the draft talking points and
recommend some changes. Ms. Fischer will revise the talking points.
B. Mercer Street Improvement Project Phase 2
1. Community Giving Tree
a. Location-Ms. Fischer reports that a sign is being made to
display at the location.
b. Design
c. Cost Estimates
d. Timing
e. Brochure-Ms. Fischer reports that the brochure will be printed
in time for Christmas on Mercer Street as well as a gift card.
2. Fundraising-Commissioners discuss talking points for corporate
donation inquiries. A subcommittee will work on this, led by
Commissioner Lehr.
3. Pedestrian Enhancements & Landscaping-Commissioners discuss
the need to review and possibly revise the plan and cost estimates.
They would like to get a proposal from the Luck Design Team to do a
more detailed landscape and improvement plan and to revise the costs
estimates.
4. Special Events
5. Publicity-Commissioners discuss the idea of creating a Facebook page
and Facebook ads for the Mercer Street Improvement Project and/or
Community Giving Tree.
C. Historic Preservation Commission Participation in Founders Day Festival-
Commissioner Lehr reports on his discussion with the Founders Day Commission
about how the Historic Preservation Commission can participate. He reports that the
Commissioner needs volunteers for a variety of things and is willing to let the
Historic Preservation Commission receive the business booth proceeds in exchange
for proving volunteers for the event. He also reports that they are willing to have the
parade theme be about Mercer Street and the historic district and or the history of
these areas. Commissioner Seelbach and Commissioner Lehr state that they are
willing to attend Founders Day Commission meetings.
D. Update on City of Dripping Springs STP MM CAMPO Project CSJ: 0914-33-
065: Mercer Street Pedestrian Improvement Project (Phase 1)-Ms. Fischer gives
an update on the project. She reports that the City Council approved Change Order 1
and approved Change Order 2, but authorized City Staff to purchase the four lights
and have them installed. She also reports that they did not approve the change order
to reduce the depth of the sidewalk concrete.

B. Regular Historic Preservation Commission Meeting, January 6, 2014, 5:30 p.m.
VI. ADJOURN-Commissioner Seelbach makes a motion to adjourn, seconded by
Commissioner Holdridge. VOTE: all in favor. The motion is carried and the meeting
is adjourned at 6:50 pm.
