The City of Dyer Board of Mayor and Alderpersons met in regular session, Monday, April 8, 2019, at 7:17 PM.
Those present were Mayor Chris Younger, Ray Carroll, Bob Moore, Fred Ivie, Michael Barron, Craig Blackburn, Tom
Mikkelsen, and Jennifer Hughey. The City Attorney was present.
Motion made by Ray Carroll, seconded by Michael Barron to approve the minutes of the March 25, 2019 regular
meeting. Motion carried with Carroll, Moore, Ivie, Barron, Mikkelsen, and Hughey voting aye; Craig Blackburn
abstained.
Visitors
The City Recorder introduced Cara Zarecor who will be covering city board meetings for the Tri-City Reporter.
Department Reports
Fire Chief Ryan Shanklin said that firefighter Darius Jackson has resigned. Motion made by Ray Carroll, seconded by
Jennifer Hughey to accept Jackson's resignation. Motion carried with all ayes.
Committee Reports
Motion made by Finance Committee Chair Ray Carroll to authorize the purchase of a 2015 Ford Explorer from the
Missouri State Highway Patrol for $17,950.00 and to provide up to $4,000.00 for equipping the vehicle. Motion
carried with all ayes.
Parks & Building Committee Chair Michael Barron asked who had control of the lights at the park. Barron is
concerned that lights may be left on when not needed. The City Recorder will contact the ball league for
information.
Mayor Younger reported that he had spoken with a contractor about flooring for the old ag building. Younger said
the contractor said the cost for vinyl will be $1,500.00 more than for CVT tile. He'll get an official quote to the
Mayor, but the expected cost will be $5,500. Mayor Younger also said that he and Alderman Mikkelsen had looked
at the project a few weeks back; Younger asked board members to let him know if they had any ideas of who the
City could hire to complete the renovations. He commended the street department for their work clearing out the
building.
Unfinished Business
The Board discussed several of the buildings that the City Attorney has been addressing with his letters to owners.
Most are in the process of being repaired or demolished.
New Business
Motion made by Ray Carroll, seconded by Michael Barron to pay the accounts. Motion carried with all ayes.
Motion made by Jennifer Hughey, seconded by Bob Moore to adjourn. Motion carried with all ayes.
