The City of Dyer Board of Mayor and Alderpersons met in regular session, Monday, December 9, 2019, at 7:03 PM.
Those present were Mayor Chris Younger, Alderpersons Ray Carroll, Bob Moore, Fred Ivie, Marty Graves, Michael
Barron, and Craig Blackburn. The City Attorney was present.
Motion made by Michael Barron, seconded by Fred Ivie to approve the minutes of the November 25, 2019 regular
meeting. Motion carried with all ayes.
Visitors
Jeremy Tate from the Gibson County Marching Band asked the Board to consider supporting the Gibson County
Mass Band's trip to the Tournament of Roses Parade in 2021. The band will be more than 370 members with 105
of thgse being from GCHS. The pf transportation will be approximately $350,000 and an $85,000 deposit will be
required soon to secure the charter planes. The Board discussed the issue and had several questions. The Gibson
County Special School District is not yet supporting the effort. "I personally think Gibson County High School should
help since the biggest chunk of tax money goes to the school", said Mayor Younger. Mayor Younger said that he's
certain the city will want to provide support in some way but noted that budgets are tight in all of the local
communities. Finance Chairman Ray Carroll asked if a finance committee could consider the request; a meeting of
the finance committee was scheduled for January 6 at 6:00 PM.
Sandra Ball of 240 Lee Street reported a problem with a dog in her neighborhood. Children can't walk on the street
without being threatened by a dog that appears to want to bite. Chief Lindsey said he would talk with Captain
Bailey and animal control about the issue.
Mayor's Report
Mayor Younger asked the public works department to begin collecting boxes from the roadside right after
Christmas. He commended everyone who worked on the Christmas Parade and said it was the best one in several
years.
Department Reports
Fire Chief Brandon Rudd reported that Travis Burks has resigned from the Fire Department due to scheduling
conflicts with his work. Motion made by Craig Blackburn, seconded by Michael Barron to accept the resignation.
Motion carried with all ayes.
The City Recorder reminded those present about the state tax relief program.
Mayor Younger reminded those present about the Christmas Party to be held Friday night at 6:00 PM.
Committee Reports
Mayor Younger reported that the floor had been completed in the Eagle Community Center. He asked board
members to have a look when they get a chance.
New Business
Motion made by Craig Blackburn, seconded by Fred Ivie to approve Board Motion 2019-12-01 concerning
Christmas Bonuses. Motion carried with all ayes.
Motion made by Michael Barron, seconded by Bob Moore to cancel the December 23, 2019 regular board meeting
due the Christmas Holiday. Motion carried with all ayes.
Motion made by Craig Blackburn, seconded by Ray Carroll to approve PO 9204 to NAFECO for $1,197.50 for Fire

Foam. Motion carried with all ayes.
Motion made by Jennifer Hughey, seconded by Craig Blackburn to pay the accounts. Motion carried with all ayes.
Motion made by Jennifer Hughey, seconded by Fred Ivie to adjourn. Motion carried with all ayes.
