Page 55 The City of Dyer Board of Mayor and Alderpersons met in regular session, Monday,July 12, 2021, at 7:04 PM. Those present were Mayor Ray Carroll, Alderpersons Bob Moore, Marty Graves, Tom Mikkelsen, Fred Ivie, Jennifer Hughey, and Craig Blackburn. The City Attorney was present. Motion made by Jennifer Hughey, seconded by Bob Moore to approve the minutes of the June 28, 2021 regular meeting. , ; ^ Mayor's Report Mayor Carroll reminded those present that the THDA Housing Grant drawing would occur at City Hall on Wednesday at 4:00 PM. He also announced a committee meeting for Monday,July 19 at 6:30 PM. Finally, Mayor Carroll thanked the Dyer Station Committee for all their work, diligence, and planning during the festival. Department Reports Dyer Fire Chief Brandon Rudd reported that the HVAC system in the rescue truck needed repairs. MB Fire Apparatus has examined the vehicle and estimates the repair cost at $1,500.00 with the cost certain not to exceed $2,000. Motion made by Craig Blackburn, seconded by Jennifer Hughey to authorize up to $2,000.00 for repair of the rescue truck. Motion carried with all ayes. Chief Rudd asked the Board to appoint Christian Poore as a firefighter. Motion made by Jennifer Hughey, seconded by Mary Graves to hire and appoint Christian Poore as a firefighter. Motion carried with all ayes. The City Recorder announced that City Hall would be closed on July 23 for a software upgrade. Notice will be placed in the Tri-City and online. Committee Reports Parks & Public Spaces Committee Chair Jennifer Hughey said there had been quite a bit of trash left in the park; she and others had filled 6 cans. Some of the trash was "inappropriate". Unfinished Business Alderman Mikkelsen asked when a replacement alderman might be appointed; Mayor Carroll said that could be discussed at the upcoming committee meeting. Motion made by Tom Mikkelsen to consider adjusting the water and sewer rates. The motion died for lack of a second. New Business Motion made by Fred Ivie, seconded by Craig Blackburn to approve PO A-5321 to CTS Communications for $2,190.00 for Fire Department Radios. Motion carried with all ayes. Motion made by Marty Graves, seconded by Jennifer Hughey to approve PO A-5325 to USA Bluebook for $1,989.95 for Sewer Machine Hose. Motion carried with all ayes. Motion made by Craig Blackburn, seconded by Marty Graves to approve up to $2,000.00 for seal kits and repair parts from Smith & Lovelace for lift station repair. Motion carried with all ayes. Motion made by Jennifer Hughey,seconded by Tom Mikkelsen to pay the accounts of July 12, 2021.
