Page 95 The City of Dyer Board of Mayor and Alderpersons met in regular session, Monday, December 13, 2021, at 7:01 PM. Those present were Mayor Ray Carroll, Alderpersons Bob Moore, Jennifer Hughey,Tom Mikkelsen, Craig Blackburn, and Fred Ivie. The City Attorney was present. Motion made by Jennifer Hughey, seconded by Bob Moore to approve the minutes of the November 22, 2021 regular meeting. Motion carried with Moore, Hughey, Mikkelsen, and Ivie voting aye; Blackburn abstained. Visitors Mr. Frank La Corte asked the board what might be done about a house across from his where a pile of mattresses has been resting for some time. Mayor Carroll asked Chief Lindsey to speak with Sgt. Paschall. Mayor's Report Mayor Carroll thanked everyone who brought snacks and participated in the open house. He commended Dyer Station Celebration for the wonderful Christmas parade. Carroll also thanked everyone who helped with and attended the Christmas Party. Mayor Carroll commended first responders and firefighters for their assistance to local communities following the devasting storms over the weekend. Mayor Carroll congratulated the public works staff for their work preparing the city for Christmas. "The mini-park looks as good as it ever has," said Carroll. Mayor Carroll also congratulated Chief Brad Lindsey on his 25 years of service to the City of Dyer. Carroll also shared a card from Dyer Station Celebration thanking the City for the invitation to the Christmas Party. Department Reports Dyer Fire Chief Brandon Rudd reported that Shelby Thompson and Nick Taylor have resigned. Motion made by Fred Ivie, seconded by Craig Blackburn to accept the resignations. Alderman Michael Barron arrived at 7:09 PM. Motion carried with Moore, Hughey, Mikkelsen, Blackburn, and Ivie voting aye; Barron abstained. Chief Rudd said that Timothy Gammons Jr. and Jonathan Daniels have applied to be firefighters; Rudd and the command staff recommend their appointment. Motion made by Craig Blackburn, seconded by Bob Moore to hire and appoint Gammons and Daniels as firefighters. Motion carried with all ayes. Chief Rudd said that Cacey, Kentucky lost all their equipment in the recent storms. Rudd proposes donating the old airpacks which were donated to Dyer to Cacey. Motion made by Craig Blackburn, seconded by Jennifer Hughey to approve the donation. Motion carried with all ayes. Dyer Police Chief Brad Lindsey asked the board to hire an additional part-time officer. Chief Lindsey says that he's spoken with Antonio Bufford with the Gibson County Sheriff's Office who will be available for weekends. Lindsey says people respond well to Bufford. Motion made by Fred Ivie, seconded by Craig Blackburn to hire Antonio Bufford as a regular part-time patrolman. Motion carried with all ayes. The City Recorder reminded those present about the tax relief program. New Business Motion made by Craig Blackburn, seconded by Fred Ivie to approve PC A-5453 to GT Distributors for $3,174.00; this was previously approved for two vests but an additional vest was needed. Motion carried with all ayes. Motion made by Bob Moore,seconded by Craig Blackburn to approve an additional $1,352.00 to Luke's Diesel for additional repairs to the rescue truck. A previous repair was already approved, but additional work was needed. Motion carried with all ayes.  Page 96 Motion made by Fred Ivie, seconded by Jennifer Hughey to approve PO A-5461 to Thompson Machinery for $8,500.00 for repairs to the skid steer. This repair was approve on an emergency basis by Mayor Carroll. This will be to replace the DEF system. Motion carried with all ayes. Motion made by Fred Ivie, seconded by Jennifer Hughey to cancel the December 27, 2021 regular meeting. Motion carried with all ayes.
