Page 43 The City of Dyer Board of Mayor and Alderpersons met in regular session, Monday, May 22, 2023, at 7:03 PM. Those present were Mayor Chris Younger, Alderpersons Bob Moore, Mike Needham, Jennifer Hughey, Craig Blackburn, Tom Mikkelsen, Marty Graves, Michael Barron, and Bett Jewell. The City Attorney was present. Motion made by Jennifer Hughey, seconded by Craig Blackburn t o approve the minutes of the May 8, 2023, regular meeting. Motion carried with all ayes. Mayor's Report Motion made by Michael Barron, seconded by Tom Mikkelsen to accept all trailer bids. Motion carried with all ayes. Motion made by Michael Barron, seconded by Jennifer Hughey to award the trailer bid to Darty Trailers for $10,800.00 Motion carried with all ayes. Mayor Younger said that the budget committee will meet on Tuesday, May 30, at 6:00 PM, and then again if needed on June 8 at 6:00 PM. Department Reports Dyer Fire Chief Brandon Rudd said they'd like to hire and appoint two new firefighters: Briley Bailey and Cody Cotton. Both will undergo the required training. Motion made by Marty Graves, seconded by Craig Blackburn to hire and appoint Briley Bailey as a firefighter. Motion carried with all ayes. Motion made by Marty Graves, seconded by Craig Blackburn to hire and appoint Cody Cotton as a firefighter. Motion carried with all ayes. Street Supervisor Dale Carroll said that repairs to the fire hydrant on West College will begin tomorrow. Carroll reported that he believes the problem is with the main pressing against a clay tile drain causing the road and hydrant to collapse as water drains through and erodes the surrounding earth. Unfinished Business Motion made by Marty Graves, seconded by Craig Blackburn to pass on its second and final reading Ordinance 2023-277, an Ordinance to Amend Title 17 of the Dyer Municipal Code as concerns parking regulations and fines. Motion carried with all ayes. New Business Motion made by Tom Mikkelsen, seconded by Marty Graves to approve up to $4,500.00 to Higdon Electric for repair to a ballfield light pole. This will be insurance reimbursable. Motion carried with all ayes. Motion made by Michael Barron, seconded by Jennifer Hughey to approve up to $5,500.00 t o Gibson Electric Membership Corporation to purchase materials for the ballfield light pole repair. This will be insurance reimbursable. Motion carried with all ayes. Motion made by Tom Mikkelsen, seconded by Michael Barron to approve up to $18,500.00 to PRI for asphalt repair under the existing contract. Motion carried with all ayes. Motion made by Michael Barron, seconded by Tom Mikkelsen to pay the accounts. Motion carried with all ayes. Motion made by Michael Barron, seconded by Craig Blackburn to adjourn.
