Page 67 The City of Dyer Board of Mayor and Alderpersons met in regular session, Monday,September 11, 2023, at 7:07 PM. Those present were Mayor Chris Younger, Alderpersons Michael Barron, Tom Mikkelsen, Jennifer Hughey, Mike Needham, and Bett Jewell. The City Attorney was present. Motion made by Jennifer Hughey, seconded by Michael Barron to approve the minutes of the August 28, 2023 regular meeting. Motion carried with all ayes. Mayor s Report Mayor Younger reported on the ongoing sewer problems on North Main that had been discussed in the Water & Sewer Committee meeting. Younger said that A2H will handle the planning, specifications, and bidding for this project. Mayor Younger encouraged everyone present to attend and participate in the Patriot Day Celebration to be held on September 16. Younger reported that the Street Department had done an excellent job installing the new volleyball court at the David Robinson Recreation Park. Department Reports;, . \ ,j Assistant Chief■Ryln'Slia'Vikrm asked th& board to terminate Trinity Daigle, Nick Taylor, and Cole Garrison from the Fire Department. Motion made by Michael Barron, seconded by Tom Mikkelsen to terminate. Motion carried with all ayes. Street Supervisor Dale Carroll said that Poynor Concrete had finished the repairs at Scattered Acres and that it looks good. Committee Reports Alderman Craig Blackburn arrived at 7:14 PM. Park Committee Chairperson Bett Jewell said that it was so nice to see the volleyball court already in use. In fact, Jewell saw people playing tennis and picnicking as well. Mayor Younger said the board would consider approving funds for (permanent) cornhole boards at the next meeting. The City Recorder reported that the Downtown Committee will be meeting soon to discuss the ongoing project at the Georgia Mcllwain Ellis Mini-Park. The poles for the lighting project have arrived, and the committee will verify placement, and discuss which particular lighting options they'd like to install. Assistant Chief Shanklin said that the Fire Department will need all the help available on Patriot Day with the stage arriving around noon, sound setup not long after that. He encouraged everyone to come out and offer to help. New Business Motion made by Michael Barron, seconded by Jennifer Hughey to authorize the transfer of the meals on wheels car to J&B Motors; J&B Motors originally donated the car. Motion carried with all ayes. Motion made by Michael Barron, seconded by Jennifer Hughey to adopt Resolution 2023-337, A Resolution to Adopt and Update the Title Vl Policy and Manual. Motion carried with all ayes. Motion made by Michael Barron, seconded by Craig Blackburn to approve PO A-6227 to Sullivan Fabricating for $1,480.00 for Metal for Hose Rack (Fire Dept). Motion carried with all ayes. Motion made by Michael Barron, seconded by Craig Blackburn to approve PO A-6225 to Hawkins Inc for $3,072.02 for Water Chemicals. Motion carried with all ayes. Page 68 Motion made by Michael Barren, seconded by Jennifer Hughey to approve PO A-6226 to Hawkins Inc for $1,266.61 for Wastewater Chemicals. Motion carried with all ayes. Motion made by Michael Barren, seconded by Craig Blackburn to approve the sale of surplus fire pagers to any approved fire department at $150.00 each. Motion carried with all ayes. Motion made by Michael Barron, seconded by Craig Blackburn to approve the sale of surplus portable radios to any approved fire department at $200.00 each. Motion carried with all ayes. Motion made by Craig Blackburn, seconded by Michael Barron to approve the donation of surplus extrication equipment to the Hornbeak Fire Department. Motion carried with all ayes. Motion made by Michael Barron, seconded by Jennifer Hughey to pay the accounts. Motion carried with all ayes. Motion made by Michael Barron, seconded by Jennifer Hughey to adjourn.
