Page 71 The City of Dyer Board of Mayor and Alderpersons met in regular session, Monday, September 25, 2023, at 7:26 PM. Those present were Mayor Chris Younger, Alderpersons Mike Needham, Michael Barron, Marty Graves, Craig Blackburn, Jennifer Hughey, Bob Moore, and Bett Jewell. The City Attorney was not present. Motion made by Jennifer Hughey, seconded by Bett Jewell to approve the minutes of the September 11, 2023 regular meeting. Motion carried Needham, Barron, Graves, Blackburn, Hughey, and Jewell voting aye; Bob Moore abstained. Requests to Address the Board Sara Williams from the Dyer Station Celebration Committee addressed the board concerning several upcoming events, including an October 28 fundraiser for the Angel Tree project; the fundraiser will include a chili supper with bluegrass music, and is anticipated to occur at the park. Williams also said that Dyer Station Celebration wants to host a 5K, coordinated by Kayla Hall and Joseph Dickinson on November 4. Williams said the Christmas in our Hometown will be held November 30 through December 2, including Business after hours on Thursday, November 30, a tree lighting and carols on Friday, December 1, and Breakfast with Santa and the Parade on Saturday December 2. Mayor’s Report Mayor Younger said that he had been in conversation with Gibson County Mayor Nelson Cunningham about Gibson County EMS using the VFW as a temporary base. More information will be presented at the next meeting. Mayor Younger also thanked the Fire Department for their work for the Patriot Day Celebration. Department Reports The City Recorder said that tax notices should be mailed in the coming weeks, and stressed that many more Dyer residents are eligible for tax relief and asked those present to spread the word. Committee Reports The Street Department will begin pressure washing the Eagle Building soon so painting can begin. Mayor Younger said the volleyball court is a huge success. New Business Motion made by Michael Barron, seconded by Jennifer Hughey to approve up to $3,500.00 for the construction and installation of cornhole boards at the park. Motion carried with Needham, Barron, Blackburn, Hughey, Moore, and Jewell voting aye; Marty Graves abstained. Motion made by Michael Barron, seconded by Jennifer Hughey to approve up $1,550.00 to Area Wide Communications for Auto-Eject Charger for Squad 1 Tahoe. Motion carried with all ayes. Motion made by Michael Barron, seconded by Craig Blackburn to approve an additional $23.37 on PO A-6178 to MES for total $5,059.89 (shipping). Motion carried with all ayes. Motion made by Michael Barron, seconded by Craig Blackburn to approve PO A-6239 to Dye-Namic Paint & Body for $5,636.19 for Repair to Police Vehicle (Insurance Reimbursable). Motion carried with all ayes. Motion made by Michael Barron, seconded by Jennifer Hughey to approve up to $2,012.50 to Area Wide Communications for Qty 5 P25 Licenses for Radios (AFG Grant).
