The City of Dyer Board of Mayor and Alderpersons met in regular session, Monday, December 11, 2023, at 7:02
PM. Those present were Mayor Chris Younger, Alderpersons Michael Barron, Jennifer Hughey, Bob Moore, Mike
Needham, Marty Graves, Tom Mikkelsen, and Bett Jewell. The City Attorney was present.
Motion made by Michael Barron, seconded by Jennifer Hughey to approve the minutes of the November 27, 2023,
regular meeting. Motion carried with all ayes.
Mayor’s Report
Mayor Younger thanked Dyer Station Celebration for coordinating all the Christmas in Our Hometown events
including the parade, breakfast with Santa, tree lighting, and the business open house. Younger also thanked all
the vendors who donated items for the City’s annual employee Christmas party. Mayor Younger reminded those
present that Dyer Goodwill will packing boxes on December 16" at 8:00 AM and will begin delivering on December
17" at 1:00 PM.
Department Reports
The City Recorder thanked Ashlee Starkey and Kerry Crandall for their help setting up for open house, he also
thanked those members of the board who brought items or attended.
Committee Reports
Mayor Younger thanked the Fire Department for the things they did throughout the recent storms to help people,
and for helping get things cleaned up. Mayor Younger thanked the Police Department for their help during the
storms and also commended them for their work on the VCIF grant.
Chief Lindsey said Dyer Officers are participating in the Shop with a Cop Program.
Mayor Younger said the Downtown Committee will meet soon to complete selection of lighting for the mini-park.
Unfinished Business
Alderman Moore asked about the status of fireplug repair. Mayor Younger said that the water and fire
departments had met recently, and were working on pricing for repairs and prioritizing repairs.
New Business
Motion made by Michael Barron, seconded by Tom Mikkelsen to approve $55,355.00 to Lonnie Cobb Ford for 2023
Police Responder F-150 (100% VCIF Grant). Motion carried with all ayes.
Motion made by Marty Graves, seconded by Jennifer Hughey to approve $4,246.00 to GT Distributors for Police
Vests (Drug Fund & DOJ Vest Reimbursable). Motion carried with all ayes.
Motion made by Michael Barron, seconded by Jennifer Hughey to Cancel December 25, 2023, regular meeting.
Motion carried with Barron, Hughey, Moore, Needham, Mikkelsen, and Jewell voting aye; Marty Graves voted no.
Motion made by Michael Barron, seconded by Tom Mikkelsen to pay the accounts. Motion carried with all ayes.
Motion made by Jennifer Hughey, seconded by Bett Jewell to adjourn. Motion carried with all ayes.
