Page 2024-7 The City of Dyer Board of Mayor and Alderpersons met in regular session, Monday, January 22, 2024, at 7:03 PM. Those present were Mayor Chris Younger, Alderpersons Mike Needham, Jennifer Hughey, Michael Barron, Bett Jewell, and Marty Graves. The City Attorney was present. Motion made by Jennifer Hughey, seconded by Marty Graves to approve the minutes of the January 7, 2024, regular meeting. Motion carried with all ayes. Mayor's Report Mayor Younger thanked the water & sewer, street, and police departments for the help repairing and helping with main breaks during the recent extremely cold weather. Younger reported that a city truck had been damaged after a collision with a utility pole; the driver encountered ice and slid off the road. Mayor Younger said that later in the meeting, the Board would be asked to approve the funds to remove the fire hydrant at the corner of Maple and Main streets; additionally, the plan is to move the hydrant at the intersection of Ashley and Main further from the street / sidewalk. This will help protect it from traffic and make it easier to renovate the sidewalk. Department Reports Motion made by Marty Graves, seconded by Michael Barron to terminate firefighter Jordan Cook. Motion carried with all ayes. Mayor Younger said that the rescue truck rear-end is making lots of noise when driven over 20mph. They are investigating what is needed for repair. The City Recorder said that W-2s should be available soon. Committee Reports Mayor Younger said that he had heard hints that some departments may need tools; he encouraged departments to contact himself or City Hall t o arrange for purchasing tools. New Business Motion made by Marty Graves, seconded by Jennifer Hughey t o approve $5,175.00 to Rogers Hydrant Service for Removal of Fire Hydrant at Maple & Main Motion made by Marty Graves, seconded by Michael Barron to approve $2,500.00 t o PEGAS for repairs at City Hall. Motion carried with all ayes. Motion made by Jennifer Hughey, seconded by Michael Barron to approve $2,574.00 to Lee's Garage for Engine 1 bumper repair. Motion carried with all ayes. Motion made by Marty Graves, seconded by Michael Barron to approve $2,198.25 to G&C Supply for a tapping machine. Motion carried with all ayes.. Motion made by Michael Barron, seconded by Jennifer Hughey to pay the accounts. Motion carried with all ayes. Motion made by Michael Barron, seconded by Jennifer Hughey to adjourn.
