City of Dyersburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen September 5, 2023 1. Call to Order: The Board of Mayor and Aldermen convened for a scheduled meeting on Monday, August 7, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. in the Dyersburg Municipal Court Room. Mayor John Holden called the meeting to order. Members absent were Aldermen Baltimore and Aldermen Moody. Others present were William Northcutt, Fire Chief Brett Sipes and Chief of Police, Steve Isbell. The meeting opened with The Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer by Aldermen Harrison. 2. Public Comment: None 3. Approval of Minutes: Mayor John Holden called for a motion to approve the minutes from the August 7, 2023 meeting. Alderwoman Webb made a motion to approve the minutes and Alderman Crawford seconded the motion. All voted in favor. 4. Unfinished Business: None 5. New Business: A. Dyersburg Fire Department Annual Report- Chief Brett Sipes Chief Sipes presented the Mayor and Board of Aldermen the 2022 Annual Fire Report. B. Resolution 09052023 Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development – Select Tennessee Site Development Grant for the erection of a new spec building at Commerce Industrial Park. Alderman Hammond made the motion to approve and Alderman Harrison seconded the motion. All voted in favor. C. Bids- Greg Williams 1. Department: Meter Readers Item: ½-ton Standard cab 2WD pickup truck Purpose: Replace older truck Budgeted: $40,000 Notification – State Gazette Bids: Ford of Murfreesboro No Response Columbia RAM No Response Kirk Nissan No Response Express Dyersburg Returned – Received after bid date Victory Dyersburg $34,568.00 Awarded bid to Victory Dyersburg, $34,568.00 2. Department: Solid Waste - Landfill Item: 70 hp Tractor with front loader and box blade Purpose: Maintain landfill roads Budgeted: $75,000 Notification – None – Sourcewell Contract # 031121-KBA Bid: First Choice Farm & Lawn $57,405.83 Bid awarded to First Choice Farm & Lawn, Dyersburg, $57,405.83 REPORT FROM ALDERMEN AND ALDERWOMEN: James Baltimore: Edward Burks: no report. Willie Cole: Alderman Cole asked the Mayor to look into lighting at the walking trail. The Mayor said he would do so. Rick Crawford: no report Ricky Hammond: Alderman Hammond stated that the new soccer complex was looking good and was excited see it. Joey Harrison: no report. Dennis Moody:. Vanedda Webb: Alderwoman Webb thanked the city employees, with the release the news of successes for the city. She stated it was very helpful for the communities. COMMUNICATION FROM THE MAYOR: Mayor Holden recognized Dyersburg Fire Department, the Dyersburg Police Department, and the EOC in there help with Mr. Randall Priest. The Mayor also took the opportunity to commend Chief Isbell and his department on recent events with positive outcomes.
