City of Dyersburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen May 20th, 2024 1. Call to Order: The Board of Mayor and Aldermen convened for a scheduled meeting on Monday, May 20th at 7:00 p.m. in the Dyersburg Municipal Court Room. Mayor John Holden called the meeting to order. All members were present. Also present were Dyersburg Police Chief Thomas Langford, members of the Dyer County Adult Leadership - Ashely Cobb, Bob Simmons, Edie Simmons and Evan Flora, Mr. James E. Johnson, Melissa Johnson, Tammy Johnson and William Northcutt with the State Gazette. The meeting opened with The Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer by Alderman Cole. 2. Public Comment : James E. Johnson Mr. Johnson passed out information on expanding the public parking at the DAC. He stated that he felt the current parking was a traffic hazard. Mayor Holden invited Mr. Johnson to the next Parks and Recreation Committee meeting to continue his presentation. 3. Approval of Minutes: Mayor John Holden called for a motion to approve the minutes from the May 6, 2024 meeting. Alderman Crawford made a motion to approve the minutes and Alderman Cole seconded the motion. All voted in favor. 4. Unfinished Business: None 5. New Business: A. Public Hearing 1. Beer Permit – Route Revive Gas & Go, LLC Vibha A. Patel 2800 East Court Street Dyersburg, TN 38024 Mayor Holden then asked for public comments. No public comments were given. Mayor Holden called for a motion to approve the permit. Alderman Harrison made the motion to approve and Alderwoman Webb seconded the motion. All voted in favor. 2. Public Hearing – May 20th, 2024 – The annexation and rezoning of property located on Friendship Road (Map 023, Parcel 050) approximately 600 feet east of South main Street (16.05 Acres) from medium-Density Residential (R-2) to General Trades and Services (B-2). Mayor Holden noted that this public hearing has been deferred at the request of the applicant. B. Bids- Greg Williams – No bids REPORT FROM ALDERMEN AND ALDERWOMEN: James Baltimore: no report Edward Burks: Alderman Burks asked about the next Budget Committee meeting. Mayor Holden stated it would be held the upcoming weeks. Willie Cole: Alderman Cole inquired about the city keeping people accountable for the upkeep of their lawns. Mayor Holden replied that the city mows these lawns and charges the owners. Rick Crawford: no report Ricky Hammond: Alderman Hammond asked when bid requests would go out for the Jennie Bell Walking Trail. Mr. Ball informed him it would be June. Joey Harrison: no report Dennis Moody: no report  Vanedda Webb: Alderwoman Webb thanked the board for their condolences during the loss of her mother. COMMUNICATION FROM THE MAYOR: Mayor Holden informed the Board that the city employee health fair would be held this year on June 4th at the Lannom Center from 8am-2pm. The Mayor also reminded everyone that this week is Public Works week.
