Board of Mayor and Aldermen
July 15, 2024
1. Call to Order: The Board of Mayor and Aldermen convened for a scheduled meeting on
Monday, July 15 at 7:00 p.m. in the Dyersburg Municipal Court Room. Mayor John Holden
called the meeting to order. All members were present with the exception of Alderman Moody.
The meeting opened with The Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer by Alderman Harrison.
2. Public Comment : None
3. Approval of Minutes: Mayor Holden called for a motion to approve the minutes from the May
20, 2024 meeting. Alderman Crawford made a motion to approve the minutes and Alderman
Cole seconded the motion. All voted in favor.
4. Unfinished Business:
Mayor Holden and Aldermen welcomed the coaches, team members, and parents of the 2023-
2024 Lady Trojan State Champion Team. Alderman Hammond noted that sports bring a
community together and he thanked the coaches and players for their hard work. Mayor Holden
stated that the team certainly represented Dyersburg well and he congratulated them all. Coach
Strayhorn said that the path to the state championship was not easy and thanked Dyersburg City
Schools Director Kim Worley for taking a chance on him when she hired him. Coach Strayhorn
encouraged the board and all of Dyersburg to attend the team’s games and cheer them on.
5. New Business:
A. Resolution 07152024
A resolution authorizing the City of Dyersburg, Tennessee to participate in the TML Risk
Management Pool “Safety Partners” Loss Control. Mayor Holden called for a motion to
approve resolution. Alderman Baltimore made the motion to approve and Alderman Cole
seconded the motion. All voted in favor

REPORT FROM ALDERMEN AND ALDERWOMEN:
James Baltimore: Alderman Baltimore questioned how long the city pool would be open. Mayor
Holden responded that they would be open until school starts back.
Edward Burks: Alderman Burks asked how the 4th of July went in the city. Mayor Holden stated
that it was a typical holiday with no major events.
Willie Cole: Alderman Cole inquired about the progress on getting a large number of old tires
removed from a resident’s property. Mayor Holden replied that the situation is ongoing and that the resident
already owes the city around $60,000 in court costs.
Rick Crawford: Alderman Crawford offered his condolences to Alderwoman Webb on the passing
of her infant granddaughter.
Ricky Hammond: Alderman Hammond extended his congratulation to the Lady Trojans.
