City of Dyersburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen August 19, 2024 1. Call to Order: The Board of Mayor and Aldermen convened for a scheduled meeting on Monday, August 19, at 7:00 p.m. in the Dyersburg Municipal Court Room. Mayor John Holden called the meeting to order. All members were present with the exception of Alderman Hammond. Others attending were Fire Chief Brett Sipes and Rachel Townsend with the State Gazette. The meeting opened with The Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer by Alderwoman Webb. 2. Public Comment : None 3. Approval of Minutes: Mayor Holden called for a motion to approve the minutes from the August 5, 2024 meeting. Alderman Crawford made a motion to approve the minutes and Alderman Cole seconded the motion. All voted in favor. 4. Unfinished Business: 5. New Business: A. Beer Permit – Gordons Express In Chief Langfords absence, Mayor Holden presented the request for their beer permit; Background investigation and departmental reports found no reason not to issue the permit for Gordon Express (Akbar Panjwani). Mayor Holden stated it was a public hearing for any comments, no comments received. Mayor Holden called for a motion to approve. Alderman Harrison made a motion to approve and Alderwoman Webb seconded the motion. All voted in favor. B. Recreation Committee Meeting minute August 7, 2024 – Chairman Ricky Hammond Alderman Crawford read the minutes from the previous Recreation Committee Meeting. C. Bids- Greg Williams 1. Department: Wastewater Item: ½-ton Crew cab 4WD pickup truck Purpose: Replace older truck Budgeted: $40,000 Notification – State Gazette – Direct to (3) dealers Bids: Express Chevrolet $56,000.00 Victory Dyersburg $48,954.00 Lonnie Cobb $46,112.00 – Tennessee State Contract Recommend Awarding Bid to Lonnie Cobb Ford, Henderson, TN - $46,112.00 Mayor Holden called for a motion to approve. Alderman Crawford made a motion to approve and Alderman Moody seconded the motion. All voted in favor. 2. Department: Police Item: Mid-Size SUV Purpose: Replace older staff vehicle Budgeted: No – to be taken from Drug Fund Notification – State Gazette – Direct to (3) dealers Bids: Kirk Nissan $41,000.00 Express Chevrolet No Bid Victory Dyersburg No Bid Recommend Awarding Bid to Kirk Nissan, Dyersburg, TN - $41,000.00 Mayor Holden called for a motion to approve. Alderman Harrison made a motion to approve and Alderman Baltimore seconded the motion. All voted in favor. 3. Mayor Holden stated that they ran a designated route. Edward Burks: no report Willie Cole: no report Rick Crawford: no report Ricky Hammond: absent Joey Harrison: Alderman Harrison thanked the cities fire and police departments, along with EMS for their help with an automobile accident that he was involved in.
