Standing and Old Business
1. Airport Manager’s Update
Airport Manager Doug Gauger provided an update on ongoing maintenance items. It
was noted that a replacement couch and chair had been delivered to the FBO as well as
a vending machine for soda. Upcoming planned fall improvements include installing a
countertop for a coffee maker and cabinets in the FBO. Doug continues to work on the
restoring the phone lines.
Doug reported that 3,108 gallons of Jet-A and 5,684 gallons of 100 Low Lead were sold
in July. He suggested that the increase in sales were the result of the EAA and more
competitively priced gas. Titan is planning to install new signs promoting the availability
of Titan fuel.
A Young Eagles event is scheduled for Saturday, August 26th. Young Eagles is an EAA
program that provides youth ages 8–17 their first free ride in an airplane.
A FAA safety program is scheduled on August 29th beginning at 6:00 p.m. The Airport
Safety Program addresses general aviation airport safety, runway safety, airports
certificated under 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 139, and safety management
systems (SMS).
The runway will be painted pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness on September
23rd with September 24th as the backup date in the event of rain. Breast Cancer
Awareness is an international health campaign organized to increase awareness of the
disease and raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and
cure.
Doug offered to connect with Vanessa Lenz, Executive Director of the East Troy Area
Chamber of Commerce to discuss possible support for a “planes, trains, and
automobiles” event at the airport in 2024.
New Business
1. Airport Shuttle Service
Doug is looking to secure a retired squad car as a courtesy car for the airport. Other
transportation options include Uber and a local taxi. A cork board will be installed at the
FBO which will contain information about the transportation options.
2. Review Draft Airport Advisory Committee Ordinance
The Committee discussed how best to approach the review of the draft Airport Advisory
Committee Ordinance. The consensus was that the Airport Advisory Subcommittee that
had worked on the recently approved land lease would also review the draft ordinance.
The subcommittee would review the airport covenants concurrent with the ordinance.
It is anticipated that the review could be completed within one year. Mr. Kim Weckerly
agreed to lead this project.
3. Discuss Open House to Answer Questions about New Lease
The committee discussed the need for holding an open house to answer questions
regarding the new land lease. The consensus was that this would not be needed at this
time.
Adjourn:
Motion by Mike Zei; Seconded by JD Schreib. Passed unanimously at 6:35 PM.
Next Meeting: 9/11/2023 at 6:00 PM at the FBO.
Respectfully Submitted,
Jim Holm, Chairperson
