MINUTES VILLAGE OF EAST TROY AIRPORT ADVISORY COMMITTEE September 11, 2023 Page 1 of 2 Call Meeting to Order Roll Call: Chairperson Holm called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Present: Doug Gauger, Jim Holm, JD Schreib, Mike Starck, Kim Weckerly, and Mike Zei Others: Dale Graves and Sam Taber Excused: none Citizen Participation Per Village Resolution 2017-01, anyone wishing to address the Airport Advisory Committee during Citizen Participation will be allowed 5 minutes. Your subject must specifically relate to matters under the jurisdiction of the Airport Advisory Committee, whether on the agenda or not. The Airport Advisory Committee should not engage in a discussion regarding comments because it was not part of the publicly noticed agenda. Upon conclusion of this Citizen Participation segment, members of the audience are not allowed further comment unless they are participating in a public hearing or if specifically allowed by a majority vote of the Airport Advisory Committee due to involvement in an agenda item. Approval of Minutes  August 14, 2023, Meeting Minutes – Motion to approve by Mike Zei; Seconded by JD Schreib. Motion passed unanimously. Standing and Old Business 1. Airport Manager’s Update Doug Gauger presented the Airport Manager’s report. He noted that he is still looking to find a courtesy car for the airport. Doug has been in contact with Vanessa Lenz to discuss possible support from the East Troy Area Chamber of Commerce for a “planes, trains, and automobiles” event at the airport in 2024. They are scheduled to meet on Wednesday, September 20. QR codes have been posted in the FBO and on the exterior notice board that allow airport users to share feedback on their experience at the East Troy Airport. This data is received by the Village Hall and will be shared with the Airport Advisory Committee. The East Troy Fire Department will be conducting onsite training at the airport on October 9th beginning at 5:00 PM. AAC members are invited to attend. New Business 1. Fly on Pilot Training Mark Ballenger has reached out to Doug and Jason Equitz about the possibility of relocating his Fly on Pilot Training business to the East Troy Airport. The Committee members felt that this could be a positive addition to the airport. Doug and Jason plan to meet with Mark Ballenger to explore possible options. 2. Grass Runway Discussion Additional topsoil and grass seed is needed to restore the grass runway. Benchmark Landscape is currently doing some repair work on a nearby private runway. Doug will reach out to Benchmark to get a better understanding of how best to proceed. 3. FBO Radio Discussion Doug reported that the current FBO radio does not have the power needed to communicate effectively with incoming pilots or to turn the runway lights on and off. He asked AAC members for their recommendations. Mike Starck offered to loan his radio to Doug to see if it would function properly. Adjourn:  Motion to adjourn was made by Mike Zei; Seconded by Mike Starck. Passed unanimously at 6:45 PM. Next Meeting: 10/9/2023 at 6:00 PM at the FBO.
