MINUTES VILLAGE OF EAST TROY AIRPORT ADVISORY COMMITTEE October 9, 2023 Page 1 of 2 Call Meeting to Order Roll Call: Chairperson Holm called the meeting to order at 6:40 p.m. Present: Doug Gauger, Jim Holm, JD Schreib, Mike Starck, Kim Weckerly, and Mike Zei Others: Jason Equitz, Dale Graves, Sam Taber, and Sharon Taber Excused: none Citizen Participation Per Village Resolution 2017-01, anyone wishing to address the Airport Advisory Committee during Citizen Participation will be allowed 5 minutes. Your subject must specifically relate to matters under the jurisdiction of the Airport Advisory Committee, whether on the agenda or not. The Airport Advisory Committee should not engage in a discussion regarding comments because it was not part of the publicly noticed agenda. Upon conclusion of this Citizen Participation segment, members of the audience are not allowed further comment unless they are participating in a public hearing or if specifically allowed by a majority vote of the Airport Advisory Committee due to involvement in an agenda item. Sam Taber asked about the whereabouts of the contact flow chart for the airport. Approval of Minutes  September 11, 2023, Meeting Minutes – Motion to approve by Mike Zei; Seconded by JD Schreib. Motion passed unanimously. Standing and Old Business 1. Airport Manager’s Report Doug Gauger presented the Airport Manager’s report. Volunteers from East Troy Fire and Rescue participated in an onsite training session organized by Doug Gauger and Sam Taber. The training was held immediately before the AAC meeting. Doug reported that he was beginning to switch to winter maintenance projects including T-hanger repair, FBO repairs, and tree trimming. 2. Courtesy Car Obtaining a courtesy car is proving to be more challenging than anticipated. Until other arrangements can be made contact information for a private taxy service will continue to be posted in the FBO. 3. Grass Runway Maintenance Doug reported that he hopes to get a few loads of topsoil and grass seed on the runway yet this fall. The grass runway generally closes when the snow starts to fall. One consideration for this year is to close the runway for the season on November 1st for turf maintenance. 4. Kim Weckerly reported that the AAC review committee is nearly finished with their review of the draft ordinances. Once the ordinances have been updated the committee will begin reviewing the covenants. 5. Planes, Trains, and Automobiles Event Kim and Doug met with Venessa Lenz, Executive Director of the East Troy Area Chamber of Commerce to discuss an event at the airport in August 2024. The purpose of the event would be to promote the airport. It was suggested that the Lions Club or Fire Department may be willing to manage the pancake breakfast and the Friends of the East Troy Airport could manage event parking. Kim shared that the Friends are schedule to meet on October 24th and will discuss their role in organizing the event. 6. Airport Layout Plan and Master Plan Jason Equitz shared that the airport layout plan and master plan are still at the Bureau of Aeronautics for their review. New Business 1. Southside Hanger Improvements Jason reported that according to Bureau of Aeronautics we may be able to begin designing hangers in late 2024 with construction beginning in 2025.
