July 10, 2023, City Council Meeting A regular meeting of the Eaton Rapids City Council was held at City Hall, 200 S. Main Street, on July 10, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. Mayor Colestock called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Present were Mayor Colestock and Councilpersons Steele, Politza, Robison, and Nicholas. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. The invocation was given by Pastor Patricia Lankton of Community Christian Church. Steele moved, Politza seconded, PASSED, to approve the agenda. First read of Ordinance 2023-06 to Amend Sections 21-16, 21-17, 21-18, 21-19, and 21-20 of Article II of Chapter 21, Weeds, and to Add Section 21-23 of Article II of Chapter 21, Weeds, of the codified Ordinances of the City of Eaton Rapids. b. First read of Ordinance 2023-07 to Amend Section 2-132 of Article VII of Chapter 2, Civil Penalties, of the codified Ordinances of the City of Eaton Rapids. c. Yeas: 5 Nays: 0 Absent: 0 Public Comments: Dave Boomer, 4180 Clements Ln., commented on the conversation that was live streamed on Facebook between the City Manager and Council Members after the June 26th Council meeting. Reports: a. Staff- Ridge reported that the CWSRF project is through final approval. It is on schedule to begin in October. Tax bills have been mailed. b. Council- Councilwoman Politza thanked the Police Department, Fire Department, DPW, Director of Parks, Recreation and Events Cagle and the many volunteers for their work on the 4th of July festivities. Councilwoman Robison commented about the conversation that was live streamed on Facebook between the City Manager and Council Members after the June 26th Council meeting. Councilman Steele thanked city personnel for their work on the 4th of July event. He reported that the pickleball court is officially opening on July 20th at 6:30 p.m. c. Mayor- Colestock thanked Parks, Recreation and Events Director Cagel and City Staff for a fabulous July 4th event. She thanked Eaton County Treasurer, Bob Robinson, for securing a Grant through the State Land Bank for the demolition of Horner Mill. She also thanked Paul Malewski for the invitation to Eaton County Conservation District meeting at Miller Farms. She provided an update of the future Recycling Center project that will be discussed at the next COG on July 20th. She also judged the Eaton County 4-H performance at the VFW National Home and provided information on the Grand Opening of the Pickleball Courts. Robison moved, seconded, PASSED, to adjourn.
