July 24, 2023 City Council Meeting A regular meeting of the Eaton Rapids City Council was held at City Hall, 200 S. Main Street, on July 24, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. Mayor Colestock called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Present were Mayor Colestock and Councilpersons Steele, Politza, Robison, and Nicholas. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. The invocation was given by Mark Michalcewicz from the Grace Baptist Church. Steele moved, Politza seconded, PASSED to approve the amended agenda. Steele moved, Politza seconded, PASSED to approve the July 10, 2023, Work Session Minutes. Steele moved, Politza seconded, PASSED to approve the updated July 10, 2023, Council Meeting Minutes. Councilperson Robison submitted her report from the July 10 meeting to be included in the record of the July 10 meeting. Steele moved, Nicholas seconded, PASSED, to adopt Resolution 2023-24. Resolution to approve Eaton County Parks Community Grant Program Application for a Pole Barn at Howe Memorial Park. Roll call vote: Colestock Yes Steele Yes Nicholas Yes Robison Yes Politza Yes Public Comments: 1. Mr. Nathan Foote, 4670 Eaton River Trail, concerned about removal of the State Street Dam. He shared his concerns regarding the detrimental effect it would have on the community. 2. Eaton County Commissioner Rogers presented her report to Council. Reports: 1. Police Chief Weeks: Abandoned vehicle letters were sent out the week of July 17, 2023. 2. City Manager Ridge: Barricades have been ordered for the Farmer’s Market, the Dog Waste Stations have arrived and will be installed soon, Director Pierce is reviewing the plan for the traffic island, the deadline for the Clean Water Revolving Fund Grant is August 4, and Treasurer Allen is working with Rehmann on the Clean Up Agenda and audit preparation. 3. Councilperson Steele thanked DPW Director Pierce for the insightful tour of the city’s lift stations. 4. Mayor Colestock will meet with City Manager Ridge and Building Inspector Hummel to talk about the Recreation Vehicle violations and review of that ordinance. She will bring back a 3  report to Council. Mayor Colestock also shared that the City Council is not considering removal of the State Street Dam. This is not under the City’s control.
