Also added how did you hear about Tree talk question on the survey Leaf Composting Difficulty finding stair/platforms Option - fence off an area to dump leaves, use a front loader to smash and put them in the bins. If on Saturday, there is no staff to do it. Can do that on Monday. Tom from sustainability will talk to EcoCycle about possibly bringing the bins on Monday so people don’t throw trash into the bins while unattended. Rachel has a tiny bobcat with a bucket that could help push/compact Need volunteers - looking into a way they can volunteer for the day/time they want. Sign up Genie. There is a volunteer waiver form that they need to fill out. Need a supply list to give to Mike - traffic cones, etc, extra snow fence, extra post, extra post driver. Mike’s crew will take care of that. Louisville’s program starts on Oct 15th, 7 days a week. Art will observe how they do it and note insights for our program. Table/banner - banner is good, keep handouts to minimum. Do encourage people to provide feedback about the program. Art will make up a list of signs/stuff for Katie/Mike to print/provide - arrows, free bags, volunteer signup, etc., box of dust masks, scissors/cutter on a cord. We need to have at least one person from Tree/Sustainability boards there per shift per supervisory role. Art will make a signup list for us. Also a list that volunteers should bring - like gloves, dress warmly, sunscreen, water bottle, long pants, Christiaan will work with Katie to do advertising pushes TOWN OF ERIE Page 2 Printed on 10/11/2018 Tree Board Meeting Minutes October 10, 2018 Should we offer lunch? Or just snack bars? Depends on weather? Shift breaks are at lunchtime. Tree Buying Program Orders due by Dec 15th but have already started We could sell the trees at Arbor day Need ~2 people to handle payment processing Mike could pick/order them, since he would have to use any excess Can the town tree funds subsidize the costs? We can charge a flat fee $20-$40 per tree - enough incentive that people want to plant them quickly so they’ll survive How long can Mike keep them and water them? Rachel will contact Mike (assisted by Art) to tell him we want to do this, how can we subsidize them, if he can pick the trees, and how we can handle payments. Arbor/Earth Day 2019 Sharon will lead Leanne will help Brian will send Sustainability contact Xcel wants to know more details before committing United Power hasn’t responded See if Mike can buy more tents Hours 10am - 12pm on last Saturday in April.
