Minutes
Members Present: Corey Jannicelli, Ron Anzalone, Letty Hardi, Sally Cole, Lindy
Hockenberry, Rosemary Ziskind, Barb Cram, Ed Henderson, Marybeth Connelly, Irene
Chambers
Guests: Keith Thurston, Mary Margaret Whipple
The meeting was called to order by Barb Cram at 9:42 am.
Minutes:
Meeting minutes from March 2018 were approved with correction to members present
Presentation by Margaret Whipple, Vice Chair for Women’s Monument Commission:
2010 Richmond General Assembly approved a monument for women
Money was raised privately (3.7 million dollar project)
200 + names of women throughout four centuries of history were approved with extra
space to add future names
Monument will include bronze statues of some important women
Construction begins in June and monument will be handicap accessible
37% of funding came from fiscal agent, Virginia Capital Foundation with additional
sponsors including Dominion, Cabel Foundation, Governor Northam, and individuals
Planning and Development Update:
Insight Development approved with City Council. Laura is working with new landlord
on a bridge lease for Creative Cauldron (3 more years at current home)
Old Business:
Arts & Cultural Map
o Map will cover the current commercial area & official design areas
o Conversation post-poned until May meeting when Paul Stoddard can join us
Public Art on Utility Boxes
o Barb will be sharing a call for artist guidelines for the group to review
Heritage Days
o Conversation postponed until next month
o Consider applying for a tourism grant/VCA grant together for the event
o I-66 Grants money is currently unrestricted

New Business:
Barb gave an annual update on the A&H Council to City Council to discuss the finding
from the Arts Economic Impact report. It was well received
Adjourn
Meeting was adjourned by at 11:02 am
Next Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 17 at 9:30 am at Falls Church Arts Gallery
