Arts and Humanities Council of Falls Church Meeting August 18, 2018 Falls Church Arts Minutes Members Present: Corey Jannicelli, Barb Cram, Sally Cole, Laura Hull, Ed Henderson, Ron Anzalone Student Representative: none Guests: Keith Thurston The meeting was called to order by Barb Cram at 9:34 am. Welcome: Minutes: Meeting minutes from July were taken by Sneha who was unable to attend the August meeting and will be reviewed and approved at the September meeting. CATCH Foundation:  Keith has been working on the CATCH Foundation website and will have an update at the September meeting  Recommendation was made that all groups like/engage with the CATCH Foundation Facebook page. Falls Church A&H Grants:  FY19 grants applications currently with the grant review committee and should be returned soon. Development Update:  Big Chimneys Park is on hold because it came in over budget Old Business:  Arts & Cultural Map o Waiting to hear from Paul about potential Capstone Student to help move project forward  Heritage Days o Second meeting to take place in September  Women’s History March o Planning already underway 1 o Are there ways that organizations can collaborate with programming around Women’s History Month within their own organizations  Public Art Project: o Group recommends a sample box o Plan to get concepts first then correct sizing  Group Grant Funding o Neither Target or PNC are a good fit for our group o Fairfax Arts Ops Grant application requires a lot of work for a relatively small amount of money and was not recommended to pursue as a group New Business:  Update social media and publicity efforts o Review of Lewes, DE website www.historiclewes.org and newspaper the Lewestowner Announcements:  Barb is on the High School Design Committee  Creative Cauldron is in its 10th season in Art Space with Annual Gala on Oct 6  Chamber is offering a presentation on WELL Building Standards  November is #Livelocal month supported by the Chamber  Historical Commission is working on updating Big Chimneys sign and a new sign at the High School  Cherry Hill Farmhouse is looking for Clothing Donations for Farm Day Scarecrow Making.  Tinner Hill has a new Executive Director Velma Ruth and is working on a 5 year audit and new strategic plan. Ed and Nikki are stepping back and getting involved in other community projects.
