Arts and Humanities Council of Falls Church Meeting September t 20, 2018 Falls Church Arts Minutes Members Present: Corey Jannicelli, Barb Cram, Sally Cole, Laura Hull, Ed Henderson, Irene Chambers, Marybeth Connelly, Lindy Hockenberry, Letty Hardi Student Representative: none Guests: Keith Thurston The meeting was called to order by Barb Cram at 9:37 am. Minutes: Meeting minutes from August were approved. New Business:  Affordable Living Policy o November will have a #livelocal campaign o A&H Council will discuss Affordable Living Policy in more detail at September meeting and submit feedback. Development Update:  None Old Business:  Music Register o Please share any regional musicians with Barb Cram  Heritage Days o Corey will schedule a follow up meeting in October  Women’s History Month o Plans are in the works to bring the Virtues Sculpture to Falls Church for Women’s History Month  Public Art Project: o Group meet with CSI to discuss printing of art for utility boxes o Request of current draft of the Public Art Policy be shared with A&H council members. 1  Update social media and publicity efforts o Share upcoming events with CATCH Foundation on facebook Roundtable:  Fall Festival was a huge success this year o Recommendation was made to use squares for credit cards next year and ending the Memorial Day festival an hour early.  Copies of the new NOVA Civil War Trails Map are available. Please contact Corey if you need any for your organization. o Recommendation was made to schedule a meeting with EDA to discuss a “Visit Falls Church” website and Lindy offered to speak to her daughter about lessons learned from Visit Loudon.  Study is being completed to review parking in the city o City is looking into a shared liability policy with private lots  Schools are working on a Gold Pass that will provide discounted tickets and VIP parking to Senior Citizens for school theatre and sporting events  Proposals for New High School designs have received very few community comments  Creative Cauldron celebrates its 10 anniversary with Nevermore this Oct  Chamber Hosts Stemtree and Famille ribbon cutting ceremonies on Sat Sept 22 and Family Fun Night the following Wednesday  Irene Chambers invites everyone to the Art Barn to see the Artist in Residence Adjourn Meeting was adjourned by at 11:10 am Next Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 20 at 9:30 am at Falls Church Arts Gallery Submitted: By Corey Jannicelli 2
